For what it's worth, I think the NI look extremely cool. Now finish 'em up so we have have some real raiding! 8)

About the L2 balance, I think that the only really gameswinging piece of L2 tech is long range artillery. It's really hard to take down a defense supported by artillery without having superior artillery yourself.

I hope you guys liked the sound files that I did for EE.

Its too bad it had to be 8 bit and the quality is kinda irked. It sounded a lot better in 16 bit.

Those missle sounds scare the crap out of me, by the way. I don't know why, but they do.

And yes the LC, i mean NI, need to be more uniquinized. The URC is not obviously a rip of, and while the GD is more obvious, its only a skin deep resemblence. But the NI are so compleatly rippeded offeded that its going to make somebody mad. Now i'm sure they are going to play COMPLEATLY differently and we have no real legal worrys (They are homemade textures and modles), so its only a cosmetic appearence.

I've been talking to Fang about different ways to change the building style of NI, at the moment I'm more concerned with balance. You have no idea how hard it is for fang to balance three teams when NI is ridiciously fast and builds seemingly twice as fast as the other teams. Ni weakness is obviously thier fragile nature , however they can build in huge numbers and quickly. Its quite hard to even that out.

However, if previous discussions about StarCraft and Warhammer 40K ports have been correct, it is precisely the cosmetic similarities that you will get your sorry butt busted over.

Well...thats...stupid. And dumb.

But about the blance i think the best way to do this think about other games and what they did right and what they did wrong and learning from their mistakes, as well as their successes. Starcraft had a race that built really fast and managed to balence them out by makeing the otehr race's shooty. Not that SC's style of gameply can be slapped onto TA.

Mabey...the NI's units could be really easy to toss around. So they will have to spread them out to keep cannon shots and explosions sending your formation flying. And their units could slow down when damaged, so like if you clip them and they go to the yellow, rahter then the green, the unit not only is damaged, but it also slows down, makeing it easyier to hit. So if you sweep miniguns back and forth across the NI swarm you could break up their swarm like that, by slowing units down so you could blast them apart.

Or, if worst comes to worst, and you can't blance it just yank the damn side out! Its not like EE is missing anything. A new side would make the mod all the greater, but with just the GD and the URC we can play it for a good long time.

Chris taylor is remaking ta and everyone knows it, but can atari touch him? Hell no, Because he made that stuff all himself (and his company of course).

who cares if it looks a bit like some old game?? noone.

About lvl2 GD tanks, i found lvl2 main tank and arty very usefull. Its a bit slow but packs a punch, so dont over impreove lvl2. A bit cheaper lvl2 fac would help a lot.

Agreed. The tanks themselves rock all over the place, but the factory is abit on the expensive side. It hogs up all my resources when im building it at an reasonable rate. lower the res cost is imo an better change than upping the build time, more build time will just need more builders.

so...what do you suggest? put the cockpits on the back of the vehicles and make them move the other way? sleek and pointy like an arrow. shaped like the batplane. starship enterprise. square and blocky. large and flat. long and thin. big wheels. what other designs can you think of that haven't been done to death by the myriad of games/scifi vehicles/spaceships over the years?

Krog, you keep saying that i am stupid, that i do not understand the mod and so on.
Yet, i did not lose all games vs you, and the team is not "my" team anyway.

I also won vs other EE beta-testers that were there from the beginning on occasion. I even won the very first game of the very first beta of EE ever.
I am pretty confident that i have understood the mod then and that i do it understand now.

Also, many ppl Do care what the models look like as playing with squares is just so much more unpleasant.

What the meat-shields that the level2 tanks are right now really need is a boost in travel speed. They are currently not viable on any larger map.

We play on "Giant_Hills_and_Mountains" very often, as this map siuts the greater range of the EE weapons and the metal expansion is nicely laid out. Yet, even in games that last over 30 minutes, you will see hardly any level 2 units. As you continually need to expand as you assault, the only lvl 2 units that dont HINDER you in doing this is the arty and the AAA, as there great range compensates for their slow speed. All other lvl 2 units will not give you an advantgae when pushing the enemy back.

You want firepower? Go for lvl 3 straight away. l2 doesnt strike the point of useful ness that fang speaks of, were it supplements level 1 assaults, so a change is needed.

The economic side is a different thing, all games we play now simply prove that lvl 1 is more efficient than all other levels, no matter the map size or player count, or game length. All players use level 1 at all times and most games end with level 1 units overunning one team.

Lastly, i dont know if making up random percentages of games played is such a good idea, or do you actually happen to have a stats tracker ?

Even IF 40% of the games you play use l2, you yourself admit that it is just to gain access to level 3, and the reason for this is that level 2 is not as effective as level 1 or as powerful as level 3.

Dont be so reluctant to change, this is BETA 0.XXX, now is when the changes happen. Once we reach 1.0, things might slow down.

And fangs ideas will hardly create a yoyo effect, as he doesnt do anything by a factor of 200% or more but in smaller, more controlable steps.

Just think of other mods, where the balancing goes on for YEARS and they are still being worked on.

Sorry for the somewhat heated reply, but you just seem to be a little too biased towards me.
