Heh. I cant even play halo properly on max particles. Low particles is a barely and i turn it off completely for multiplayer............

Well then turn them off, it wouldn't be nice to stop everyone having perty particle effects just cause some people have cruddy computers.

I never said that i didn't want the feature, WHY DON'T PEOPLE READ?!?!?

I said if its in you cant make it to realistic. Thats All. Cause real vapour trales hang around for ages, and then, I dont care what anyone else thinks, but as they build up the will LAG the game to hell. On the other hand haveing them just suddenly dissape if theres to many on screen would look blindingly obvious. So they cant have long trails that hang around.

And as for Flash being inefficient and sucking, well yes, a bad example, but it dont sux. Its quite alright actully. And you can't say you cant compare because its in effecient because of the following logic.

Spring might be say 20x's as effecient at rendering lots of alpha overlays. But if flash lags on just 10 things overlaping with alpha values, then spring will lag at 200 things. Considering each plane would have about 40 bits of dust at one time you could therefor have a max of 5 planes... most people would have about 50 - 100 planes.

No in the above the figures are of, but you get the resoning, and hence my example is valid, even if its not the best one.

sssh ... aGorm it was said and repeated that even WE want all these nice visual features (me and some other) that we also WANT it to be OPTIONAL (that mean person with low end computer can disable it w/o AFFECTING actual gameplay) ... clear :) ?

and be quite sure that any ATI DX9 class hardware is strong enough to handle it ...

and upcoming cards ... well they will idle most of time ...

Hvae you noticed the screenshots wherethe missiles have black trails that fade out and linger in the same way you describe? And that was before the real processing intensive stuff got added like fps and shadows.
