Hey -
I'm a freelance programmer (along with everyone else here) and I have been studying AI... but haven't gotten an opportunity to do any implimentation yet. I'd be interested in working on unit operations, a general adaptive friend / foe AI or adaptive scripting AI for (example) self guided construction units, etc.
In any case, my question is just - does anyone want / need any help?

We have an entire Forum dedicated to AI... if you want to help, the best way to get into things is study the GroupAIs, and build better GroupAIs for specific uses in mods. Want suggestions?
1. I'd like to see somebody do a proper sorting AI that will keep units in formation both at the start, end and during movement.
2. We need a flocking algorithm implemented that will allow a GroupAI to set better attack priorities for the units in the flock, based on weapon range.
3. If you're feeling really ambitious, get with AF and work on Spring's rather messy pathfinding systems. They're really quite funky at the moment.
