A ranking/feedback & identifying system of some kind

Post by hawkki »

Since the community is growing really big and linux&windows players can soon start playing togther i think we would need some way to separate good players from bad.

Nothing is more annoying than a player exiting the battle in the middle without saying anything, right ?

Since now there are so many players it starts to get impossible to remember the names of the lamers AND since you can change your player name by renaming they can remain the same rank and keep on harrassing with a "clean" name.

I think every player should register to get playing spring. They would get a unique ID that would never change. The name and possibly other info could be changed from the main server dut the unique ID would stay same.

On basis of this ID we could build up a feedback&stats system of some kind and we could get a method of identifying fair players you can play with and get a good match.

Any support for a system like this from other community members?

Should not be hard to implement since it has almost nothing to do with the game itself. Just the lobby and a master server.

sounds like a good idea, i especially would like to see proper registration. i mean, you arent even protected from name hijacking if some loser wanted to try it...

If it wasn't too hard, I'd love to see something like this.

There's nothing worse than spending 1-2 hours in a game, slowly strategising towards victory, and then have the host (on the opposing team) type .cheat and give himself 10 Krogoths... Completely ruins the game experience.

I dont want a stats system. People will just become overly comptetitive and i think that would ruin the game experience. TA:Spring is largely based on trust and honor (not cheating or exploiting engine bugs, which there are a lot of). A stats system would just make people more likely to do such things.

But a feedback system would be great!

name stealing is great fun (as i'm sure my fellow WarC members will contest  ). But if someone wants to be annoying by all means let them. this unique ID etc is completely OTT. people grow up or realise that they are wasting their own time as well as others. A ladder/proper ranking system would be nice, but i don't think that it should necessarily be compulsory

For the love of god, I will be so hapy if a ladders tyle play is implemented...

Right now its "i'm so good no iam etc etc" all herasay... ... it should be "well lets play each other; the better will go higher in the rankings"

Plus i just want to see a big slugfest between myself, BigSteve, a WarC or two, and some other dudes in AA X-D

a ladder could be implemented in 10 minutes .. (well less than a hour)
but it's not goin to happend .. not now anyway ..

plus, there is a "bad list" and a "ban list"
bad lists the guy name to the abyss of the players list
ban auto kicks the guy from your server :)
