can someone PLEASE teach you how to UV map it? so that the thing's textures allign over the edges of faces?
lol, this is the "default" uvw mapping, I flattened (does this word exist?) all the polys on the texture, it isn't the definitive texturing and I change the model too often to do a serious uvw mapping...

PS: an admin or someone should read this thread and tell us if the units are ok... I dont want to model, skin, export, etc.. the unit 234 times

sorry for my english...
The decision is up to the SY's. They asked for the unit in the first place.

here is a new textured version of the artillery tank, it lacks treads or wheels now..
texture quality isn't good in Upspring, they are lot better than this :P, the white part is the teamcolor

You know, I didn't think it would work when I first saw it, but seeing it textured TA style I think it looks really really good. I'd love to see that in game.

I'm happy that you like it.
My graphic card sucks so I cant activate fancy effects but this is how it looks in game with "camo" textures and without:

Here you can download the 3ds model and the unit (its not a mod, you have to extract it in a copy of xta :P)
http://guru.altervista.org/unit.rar (use "save as")

And Here you can download the texture in psp format, this is 10MB cause it is a 1024x1024 with 23 layers image :D

Tracks need to be seperate from the chassis more, and the turret could use some work.

Do you mean on the textures or on the model? Please be more specific, I'm at your service :-)

The team color paint also doesn't look much like paint. Work on trying to get the grit so it looks like it's on top of the paint.

That track wont look good in movement (the model design).
Its a shame, but that is why tank traks in this game are covered by a "plate", its bc non anymated tracks will spoil the look.

What happens if it shots at 90º to the left of the tank?
just by looking at its shape you can imagine it turning in its side.

the unit is very close to the ground, and looks (by its legth) it will have enormous trouble moving in non plain terrain.

despite that, its good work, keep producing units!

In this screenshot you can see the new larger, higer, titanium-alloy-plated, treads and the new more realistic teamcolor textures:

As a not-quite-qualified person to give critiques, I'd say the features on the textures like the air inlet or the metal point weld or nails are too small to be noticed at normal playing distance. It could use some more contrast too maybe.

Also note that I'm not speaking for the XTA [PE] maintainers here, nor for Yeha who was going to add that weapon. I think you should PM him or something, because XTA isn't managed in a central way and I have no idea who should be doing updates on it.

I think you are right, from a normal distance it looks like a gray box with some blue spots, but is not bad to have some nice textures when you zoom in on units.

I dont pm yeha cause I think this unit have some basic model problem to be included in xta. I'm doing this just for fun :P.

I hope my english is not too bad.
