Let Picasso make his map, people. Either he will find a way to minimize the ugliness of stretching, or he will fail and see first-hand the pitfalls of texturing steep inclines. I'm interested in seeing how he approaches this.

P.S. Picasso: want to make a cool city that isn't so tall that textures stretch awfully? Two words: Mayan Ruins :-)

edit: and DON'T fall into the same pitfalls and bad things that were in Yilith (primarily metal distribution and skybox with obvious seams, but also the layout in general)

God you people are whiny, its not like he hasnt proven he can possibly do this. Just download yilith, and you can see what hes capable of. And if you belive he can do it, download yilith anyways, its a fucktardly amazing map. And even if he cant do this, he can problably turn it into somthing just as cool :).

Perhaps this'll even be easier than stretching etc. You already have the models from the heightmap :) And other mappers can use the features as well, that would really help out!

Great job you're doing here :) really would love to see more of your work :)

It's not an issue of capability, it's an issue of possibility. You can be the best athlete in the world but you still won't be able to jump 30 feet into the air unaided. He's saying he wants to do just that. The map is not possible without features. Which is why we're saying just use features. Features are like a catapult.
