Post by genblood »

I'm working on a new map and this time I'm trying something
different. It's not a metal map or a strange looking sci-fi
this time .... It still work in progress ....

Also, I decided to use features others made ... My modeling
skills still need work ...

Welll, this map loosk like it will be one of those "hills, valley and some water" maps, of which we clearly have a nice lot.

Also, the palm trees, while neat, are getting old already as a number of maps use them. Afterall, they are not much different from ordinary trees.

You might want to get back to your innovative thinking, i miss that already.

One advice regarding Wind: Someone has said that an average wind no lower thatn 8 is already enough to wind-farm, scince the wind-gens are so much cheaper and quicker built than solars.
So please keep that in mind when setting the wind-amount. Most maps have aweful strong wind these days.

hey gen, in case you havn't noticed, the features you are using have inverted meshes. Download my latest canyons map pack (v3) and use the features out of that.

I was sitting here trying to figure out why your trees looked so wierd, now I understand.

Palms look WAY out of place, map looks dark and bland.

I like the look of it, it has a bit of a scottish moor feel. Not exactly the most eye catching map ever though. However if it plays well all is forgiven.

Texture still looks ugly, and the snow is just silly looking.

That's supposed to be snow? I thought it was just a fairly close fog level...

Genblood, I aplaud you.

I am extremely happy you now consider our opinions. That being said the environment is MUCH better then your previous ones. I would LOVE to see some grey rocky cliff sides. Keep up the good work.

I live right off the rocky mountains. They acctually do that in real life. Rocks usually have small cracks in them and areas of soil exposed within the rock face and trees seem to be able to develop root structures in virtually anything.

a better looking terrain .... Here are some screenies with the
new texture map. The size of the map is 3 times larger now to
the better texture ... :?

Well, if the texture is the main feature of this map, could you please make it more high-res ?

It would also be nice if you posted the mini-map.

And, pretty please, keep the amount of wind lower than an average 10.

interesting. Pretty too. One thing? Why is it so dark? Not that huge of a deal, but I'm curious as to why.
