Why not just have split 'game' folders.
or a standard MOD file format with everything packed into one big 'PAK' type file, ah la Quake.
The current OTA meathod of having just ONE mod installed at a time must go!
it seems that a multi-mod friendly TASpring would be great!
You could simply have a 'Standard' straight TA data/files folder, then a ModX, ModY, ModZ one that adds whatever is different.
Maps would be split in the same way.
When playing in MP assuming both players have the same version of ModX the game would automatically use the ModX files instead of any others.

First of all I seem to recall being told .pak files were just .zip's by another name.
Also you would have to put the TA files it there own folder to, alot if not all mods override the TA files so it would be nice to have them tucked away in their own little folder.
And I'll keep that in mind Alantai firestar.

Hear ye Hear ye, why not have ALL the best mods in a easy to use switching device! Then if you LOVE XTA then play with XTA, or AA or whatever you like. I personaly like Final Fronteer because their are no nukes and no LRPC's, so you have to get into the thick of it and blast the enemy into a trillion bits with your deck guns. MUHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
Also the FPS feture looks realy cool, but maby for big ships like the Bordeside from FF or the Millenum from OTA sould use a third person view. Or maby if your flying a plane, youd be in a cockpit, and if your in a K-bot youd be wearing a helmit compleat with a red Termenator esque skreen with meaningless cool looking data running down the sides. If your in a ship, then well youd be in a bridge, compleat with fireing controlls and everything. Ohh maby you could play entire games entirely from a C&C ship on the ocien, directing naval bombardments, air strikes and eventualy a anphibius assult. That would be TA in an even new and cool way. (i mean how many people havent wanted to get in a comander and blast the enemy apart with a D-gun)
