same problem... i cant play with 60artx wrote:same problem here...colorblind wrote:Is it just me, or is the display frequency setting broken? Spring gives me a steady 60 Hz, regardless of the value I enter in settings.exe.![]()
I checked the settings in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SJ\spring
DisplayFrequency = 85 ...seems to be correct
I have a GeForce 6800GT (Forceware 81.89)
any ideas?
New version, 0.70b1
The new code loads build pictures when they're needed. So wandering through the build pages will only go slow the first time.
Display frequency is indeed broken, I haven't found a way to set it in SDL.
AFAIK the lobby problems posted here are mostly because of old lobby cache data. Hopefully betalord will be able to deal with that soon, but he's away for 2 days now.
Many mods and maps have incorrect TDF/FBI syntax on which the TDF parser breaks. I can fix that, but I'm going away for a week first.
Maybe in the future we can set up an "official" testing release and server, so we can do big changes without keeping everyone from playing spring for sometime.

I installed Spring to a new folder and get two buttons on the start bar when running the client (with only one window open). I think it's a very minor problem but still:

Edit: This does not happen when you disable "Use taskbar button for each form". But this additional button isn't for any visible form, it just opens the main window again..

What the heck?Zaphod wrote:The new code loads build pictures when they're needed. So wandering through the build pages will only go slow the first time.
I'm fairly sure it's the spalsh screen (loading screen).Cyberwal wrote:I installed Spring to a new folder and get two buttons on the start bar when running the client (with only one window open). I think it's a very minor problem but still:

Could be.. also while I really like the new font (it looks much better than the old one), it causes problems with readability at some points. Maybe if these small menu points got set to a bigger font size, this problem would be gone.

To Caydr: I am behind of lazy loading of build pic. Problem is that it takes 10 seconds to load all build pic in AA mod. And generaly all AI has to load all units in begining.
But I don't think that your problem with UI responsiveness is because of this, because it is only first time and must take only a fraction of that time, but I will try to improve it (preload all units which commander can build), but don't expect it in 70b2 ...

well, one could use ReForce to get around most windows refresh rate issues:

One of my friends has been having a problem since the new update.
It's 1 out of two things :
1 : Once everyone has picked thier starting loc and clicked ready, the game starts - except his whole computer restarts.
2 : If his computer didn't restart, after a little while he gets massive amounts of lag (150+) then his computer goes kaboom.
His comp specs :
ATi Radeon 9800XL
Intel P4 2.6 GHZ
512 DDR RAM

And i forgot to mention, it seems to be having a better performance now.PauloMorfeo wrote:This new version looks much nicer, grafically. Very cool!
And i managed to compile it in my Suse box moderatly easy.
Some dependency stuff needed to install (some yast, one make + make install, one ./configure + make + make install). Then, just open K-Develop and compile it.
Got a warning, though:
Code: Select all
rts/Rendering/GL/glTextBox.cpp:31: warning: converting to `int' from `float'Will it work and be able to connect?
Great, great stuff!
There is a x-platform lobby client being worked at, called "omni". It can be found in the SVN repository at berlios. Try it out, I don't quite know in what state is it in. Atleast it could connect to the lobby and even join games.PauloMorfeo wrote:Is the lobby client compilable in Linux?

Ok this tool did the trick...but i see this only as a workaround solution. I hope the refresh rate issue will be fixed in the next spring release.Fractal wrote:well, one could use ReForce to get around most windows refresh rate issues:
