We are looking for some sample mock up screens for spring.exe single player and options, if you have some spare time please mock up one or more of the following or create some ideas for a theme, we have a skinable GUI working so the look and feel can be changed but we need something to start with.

Screen 1: First Menu

Menu Item1: Single Player
Menu Item2: Multiplayer (launches the lobby)
Menu Item3: Options

Screen 2: Single Player

Menu Item1: Campaign
Menu Item2: Skirmish


Screen 3: Skirmish

ListBox: current scripts (commander, commander 1000 res)

Screen 4: Options

Somethign wiht same options as settings.exe
Add selection box for Key Map Edit (something simular to Quake, HL2)

Screen 5: Key Map Edit

Need all keys that spring uses

Screen N: any ideas you may have.

This will not be an opportunity to go off on tangents. I please don't chime in on this thread unless you have a solid example or mock up to post. If you have ideas, please make another thread. Also if you plan on working something up, please post and let us know you are working on it so we can ping you from time to time to see what your status is.

I'm deleting all posts that don't include that thing that greenail asked for... There's a mod related idea thread in the mod forum here and a general off topic and ideas thread here. Use them for this kind of chat instead.

Let me see what I can come up with. Is there any set sizes that the images need to be? And any certin image format?

Take a look at this as well

This is an easy way to mock up something if you want to produce something that is acutaly usable in the end.

I was playing with my test app a bit more and got some stuff rendering in the background. I was thinking we coudl have some 3d action in our backgroud for the startup screen. I was planning on having the multiplayer button launch the lobby, or if it was on linux a simple replacement for script.txt

I'll do another of these with ta different lookand feel so you folks can get an idea of what can be customized.

norf, like replays on the background of Quake 1 and a shiny battle on C&C generals.
Need an option to turn it off though, it takes loading time.

I'm assuming from the lack of response on the layouts and look and feel that no one cares about what the new GUI looks like so unless someone wants to step up and help out there may be a very ugly GUI in the near future as I am not a graphic artist.

I think people need to have something in their hand to begin working...
And it even more true with this GUI...people become to loose faith.

I'm pretty sure if you release an ugly gui, you will have ton's of other the next week :)

Well... i wasn't realy sure if i should do anything, I figured everyone was doing it (Plus i been a bit ocompind with my lack of monitor and doing a map)

howver i have a monitor now, and the maps nearly done, so i might just do something.

However, is this for the ingame gui AND the frontend, or just the front end, and if i drew up teh art, would i have to chop it up, or can you do that? I have no idea how to actully make a gui, just how to design one.

If not maybe I can do some designs and someone else could do the choping up.

Hmm.... the GUI sohuld really be unifiedi n terms of design.... I personally <3 some of agorm's work on GUI/logos etc... maybe some of the images could be used as backgrouns for the buttons?

Those are the sort that some people like but some dont like at all..

The nearest I've seen so far are the banner we have at the top atm, and aGorms XTA logo, which to be honest is far better than anything else put forward to date by a long shot imo.
