Widget stops clicking on other ui

I know this has been adressed before as something that's fixable, but it's something that needs to be fixed.

Appearance: darkened screen
Problem: Cannot click to select units or give orders
Cause: Widget?

I first encountered this in BA a while back. I eventually solved it by unloading all widgets. I wasn't the only one who had the problem - a couple other people have come up with the issue ingame and I've helped them solve it.

But then in the past week I've experienced this problem, and for the first time it's been in another mod - Planet Annihilation Afaik this was originally this was blamed on the Red UI widgets, so when I reencountered it, the first thing I did was disable the Red UI widgets. Did not solve the problem. Because I was holding up a game, I neglected to narrow down to the specific widget that was causing it, so I just unloaded all widgets. As the game progressed I started adding my widgets back, and then immediately after adding the music player (an ironic accident since I never have it enabled) suddenly the screen darkened and again I had to unload all widgets. However, I started by unloading the music player. Didn't solve anything. So I followed through and unloaded all widgets.

So what I know: there is no music player in BA. Also, the Red UI stuff doesn't seem to be responsible (although I am not a widget dev or anything).

Thanks for reporting. Need more info and/or screenshots though. Who else experiences this?

For clarity @ OP: the help and bugs forum is a reasonable place to ask about issues affecting more than one game, and this forum is not restricted to engine issues. (Engine bugs should ideally be reported to mantis.)
