Trying to make a Map: Space Concepts
I know I've seen someone use wings UV AUtomapping..., could someone give me the easy version of how to get a UV map out of wings into photoshop and back again?

select the coresponding object(s) go to the uvwmapping option choose direct. Then right click and create texture... this will render your wireframe down onto the texture map.
go to window->outliner this will have your texture on it odds are as difuse...
right click on that and say export...
edit in photoshope...

So Thanks for that, as it turns out making the 3d model for an asteroid is easy, making a convincing looking texture is not...
I have managed to get it into Upspring, and save it as an S3O, but it's not showing up in my map at this point(replaced a known good 3do object in a map with my s3o and altered the tdf to the correct name and added my texture to the tatex folder etc...)... I remember something about features needing a grouund plate, or needing no hierarchy or something... any suggestions?
also, upspring seems to like bitmaps fine, do I need to switch to dds or something to see it in game?
You definately need a format that has an alpha channel. I have had single part ground-plateless features working ok. The other problem is you need to flip you polys to stop you model appearing inside out. I have also had to flip textures top-bottom to get them to fit, that might depend on the file format that you choose.
weaver, there have been many discussions about it but here is the latest....
Features, collision, scale and how it works/doesn't work.

Okay, so as it stands now, I have saved the model as a 3do and it shows up fine, so I know it not just my map being screwy...
I have:
-tried flipping the polys just in case, no help
-set the radius and height values to create the colision sphere, no help
-converted my texture maps to be dds, no help
-I took the working 3do model and saved it back as an s3o with my custom textures, and it's still invisible, i even pressed B to make colition spheres show up, and its sphere isn't showing up so I know it's not in there at all now, even though I'm not getting any missing object errors so it has to THINK it's there...
I created the model in wings and then exported to 3DS, then brought it into upspring, in upspring the texture doesn't show up right in the preview area, it just shows all blue, but since their is no way for objects to be transparent I figured it was okay for now as long as it shows up AT ALL in the map.
I've Uploaded the 3DS file cause it has everything in one nice tidy package that anyone can use, it had to be zipped cause yahoo is stupid.
