genblood, Again.. it is not a matter of texturing entirely.
There is
A: no theme.
B: no geometric unity
C: The geonmitry used is really too basic.
C: colors clash map wide on this puppy
I am telling you these things because I am trying to help. I do not think that saying your map is ugly will help you. Other may feel then need and maybe I am being too gentle but you need to hear me.
I do realize you changed many parts of your map and I am glad you did but there is still more work to be done.
To be honest, the biggest factor that makes this map "ugly" is the completely bland features. Outside of the reflections and shaddows they are simple geometric modeling hell. The sort of art I see from hack abstract artists. Yeah, pyramidical buildings are neet but only when used well. An maybe the rings and X-mas lights that you modeled would look good in another application but not in this one.
The colors you use are almost random and there is no subtlety... If you had stayed with the grey look you did on the lower right that would have been for the better... the bright blue water is also non-sensical. These sort of things are, I believe plagueing all of your releases. To be honest I initially thought you were color blind.
Again, it just looks really awful to alot of people but I do not want to discourage. what I want is to help you get better and if I am waisting my time I will stop but I tried to warn you that there would be an adverse reaction. After working so long on something it is good to consider your audience and that audience is telling you that is not done. After all what good is a map noone plays.
So in short do not try and use features or effects to wow us. The canyons map recently released by forboding is awesome but it is simple. There is a beauty to simplicity and I want you to see it. When I say "I want" I mean that I WANT YOU to be able to make great maps. I believe that you may have the potential but at the moment not the vision.
