I get these exact same errors. Any advice?
Until I release a new fixed version my only advice is to use version 0.4 :( as that seemed more stable and does the same stuff(except replays) but slower.
naaa.
It gives those errors but i dont see (havent seen) any effect on the game or maps or anything at all!
If i see it doest then ill switch it back :P
I get this error with the newest version and it does nothing

Edit: Wrong, it just sees like the programm crashed but it's actually reading the maps it seems. A working progress bar would be nice ;)

Edit 2: When I close and re-open SpringSP.exe, it takes an enormous amount of time to load the maps again. Like 5 minutes or so.

After the initial load ti seems to be laoding fast for me, however loading up the source project in VS .Net I noticed several things.

The labels on soem of the text boxes at the side for startign resources need widening.
Some of the textboxes still dont display text in the yellow colour
The loading maps bit could also do with being skinned to fit in with the rest
You should call GetAIName() for each AI dll and display the result rather than writting the filename of the AI
You could also display the race image that the main lobby uses.
You cannot delete the first player in the list regardles sof wether it's an AI or human, you have to delete all the other players then edit it yourself
You can start games with only 1 team/person/AI/player and no others
Mods have names, you can load it from the modinfo.tdf file and that should be used instead.
And try to allow us to move the window around with it having no title bar, by just dragging in the empty space.
You could make the bit showing what map you've got selected bigger so it can load up the map description too.

First of all thanks for the comments and bug reports, they really help me to make the program better.

I have rewritten some of the map loading code, so hopefully that should fix the problems loading maps. I hope to release a beta 0.5 version for testing in less than a week.

Perhaps you could take a more TA-like route and shove map selection in a seperate dialog with the pictures and description, and just show a description of the selected map and a picture on the main page....

And maybe a initial splash page with single player multiplayer replay, perhaps you could try adding code to do LAN games even, typing in the hosts address, or hosting and setting up as usual...

I have planned to make SP do to this for some time, I have even made some graphics for the initial page.

I haven't been able to get unitsync.dll fully working in VB so SP is still unable to load map names, map descriptions, the minimap...(any function that returns a string) with unitsync.dll. Because SP can't load descriptions etc I haven't split maps into a seperate window yet, but I will do so when unitsync.dll is working in SP. I guess I could add the initial splash screen, even though I was waiting till campaigns/missions are supported by spring.

I haven't played spring on a LAN before and it's not really single player but I may have a look at making a lan lobby and linking it it to SP some time in the future, maybe.

It's just a link to betalords lobby *_*

I dont agree with copying exactly how TA did it. Especially with that flash screen. I'd prefer seeing the options down the side than at the bottom.

As for campaigns, have you ever played the campaign for spring on small divide? It ahs like 1 mission but it wouldnt be too hard to collect a set of missions together and display them, or generate a custom campaign definition format for bundling missions together.

It could also be said that you could animate your buttons and add the OTA sounds or something newer.

Well, I really think the Single Player lobby works great and I have no problems at all with it!

I hope the frontend will work out fine, and will it be fullscreen? or atleast an option for it to be?

Like AF said, it's just a link to betalord's lobby.

I have played the small divide mission but it needs a mission briefing before the game starts like OTA.

I could animate the buttons of SP but for me sounds might be a bit more difficult.

I hadn't planned to make it fullscreen. Does it really need to be fullscreen?

In fullscreen it just has the more professional look ya'know ;)

But it's not necesary.

sounds and animated buttons would be pretty cool though, like the hum we all know from OTA.

There are already sound and such from OTA content, if not there're hundreds if not thousands of sounds available at google search.

If it's getting the sound to play that's the problem, you could always just use the beep command for now, and google will help you there.

With the main menu I have decided to put the menu down the right side. This will let me expand the menu in the future without making it look unbalanced.

I couldn't decide which to use, the one with the spring logo or the one without - Let me know which you like. I still have to add graphics around the menu.

Man, you guys should lose the TA graphics! They're horrible. The TA multiplayer room has always been ugly as hell.

You guys should make it look like the Battle Room in the Spring client. Just make it look like an IRC window/windows program. The TA menu layout has always been clunky too. The Spring multiplayer implimentation is 10x better.

Oh dear god no. If the lovely, clean mIRC style multiplayer lobby we have now ends up with a nasty, TA-Style skin like Phoenix Worx and GBL that would be a travesty.

First off, those buttons look ugly, primarily because they're all different sizes. Make them all the same size, and dont do ti by simply stretching so the text looks wierd.

I also think both images dont suit the spring logo with ro without it. I think you'd be better off directly copying in the XTA logo aGorm made, or asking him to make a spring variant. Or better yet putting a render in there.

Or do what OTA did and put a watermark logo there. How about the little spring thign in the corner above 0.5 blown up in size, with no changes?

I agree. I really like how the lobby is now.

This is a great project, especially for those players like me who have lots of experience with OTA but are totally new to Spring. So excellent work. it is much appreciated!

I love those last screens, and I agree the one with the sun logo is awesome. Please keep the original TA feel, it really helps newbies like me since it is at least a little familiar.

Now if only it had that deep humming sound that made everything on my desk rattle...
