You may have better quality than mine, but mine is adequate I can assure you, and you possibly don't have the volume 8)

Regardless, my whole magazine is open for downloads - I specialise mostly in WW1-WW2 stuff at the moment, although I am slowly moving on to buildings. Anyone who needs something is free to ask me.

Textures look bad imo. Even for such a small model.

Do you have Legos?
I mean cubic building pieces for Vehicles that can be assembled at any angle?`If you do, is there still space on the atlas?

Nope.
Pieces were all created and generated manually. I had to keep the poly counts as low as possible, since these are meant for my own private use in an up and coming mod for a pretty old game. I don't want to overtax the game engine so I try to keep everything at 800 polys and below.

Besides, they are not the only things I work on at present. I've also started off buildings too....

Again, this is strictly for my own use, but if anyone wants to use it they are more than welcome. They just need to specify what format it is being set as.

I will try to get a few knocked up together, then I can send them to you for use in Spring 1944.

Smoth: Nope, I don't work with 3dos - I work with max format which is then exported to various formats depending on what is required. At present, I work with bh3 format which is why my tanks have very low poly counts and details.

What is bh3? Why does that necessitate low poly?

maybe lowpoly because of the limitations of the engine?

Well, here's what I'm working on right now:

This is just a small amount of my entire corpus at present. They will be ready for download once I have finished them all.

That's good to know, however you will have to wait before they can get into a Spring-friendly format.

they look neat yeah!

But an increase in texture resolution in some places wouldnt hurt, unless these objects are meant to be looked at from a distance.

I admit this is actually being created for Kings & Conquerors, a mod which uses bh3 format for models. However, if anyone is interested, give me a few pointers how to rig and export buildings for Spring and you can have it.

That can be arranged for.

One final issue, before I begin working on improving textures:

What's the best way to prepare these guys?

Image
I currently have the following ready:

3ds Max 5.1
Blender

I used to use dummies in 3ds Max to create them, and am thinking of inserting bones (inserting hooks in Blender failed to produce anything) BUT if anyone can help spare me the trouble I'd be grateful for it.

If I calibrate these units for Spring, must all parts of the units - body, legs, and all - be separated from one another? I have never understood if parts must be made in separate files or can be integrated as a single file.
how do infantry units in Spring 1944 work? are there any seams in the elbows and knees?

Code: Select all

Yes, all pieces must be seperate, however a litte overlap at the knees and ellbows helps to get stu looking natural.
It looks strange, but this system is quiet excellent for mechanoid units.
I have never understood if parts must be made in separate files or can be integrated as a single file.
You export your unit from 3dsmax as 3ds or from blender as collada file.
If you use blender you are done. You can set the hierarchy up in the editor and can start working with your exported units.
If you export to 3ds you need to import the whole thing into upspring and set it up, arranging pivots and hierachy. Save it as a s3o and add it to the unit ingame.

Yes. Flozi and Yuritch broke the infantrys legs and arms. Some devs know no mercy.
