ne way. How to you inport exsisting models into it? (and later out of it).
congrats then, Lightwave is number one 3d modelling software.... :-)
how to make it ? in lightwave 7, make a model and then export to lightwave 5.0 format (choose file --> export --> lightwave5 format)
also TA engine read polygonal model, so dont use subpatch or nurbs even if it look better, keep poly number low
TA will use lightwave centerpoint (0,0,0) as object pivot, it wont read lw pivot

Here is some link for great lightwave tutorial (good for beginner)
http://members.shaw.ca/lightwavetutoria ... bjects.htm
here is what i learn first time i got lw 5
http://www.universe-3d.com/tutorials/br ... urus-e.htm

And my fave modeller is dave wilson

Unfortunately there is no lightwave to TA converter or lwo to s3o format exporter, but ill keep bugging the developer til they make one

hi t1999.
how the project goes :)
already too happy with LW ?? I got my new 8 too last week, but I still keep my old 7 up and running (for it lighter on low spec machine like mine)
the new 8 is much neater and easier for advanced animation/kinematics... but update to 8.3 is a must for it remove a dozen of crashing bugs

The MechaMan Returneth

Post by t9999clint »

Ok, sorry to keep you guys hangin' I was at an impass.
1. My computer sucked ballz (1.7ghz dell with a onboard 8mb gfx card)
2. I've never used a 3d program before (confuszed as F@#$)
3. I seem to have some sort of curse or something, but I cannot get ANYTHING to compile. It's weird, even if I don't change anything in the source or follow the intructions EXACTLY!!!! NOTHING seems to compile. I've even tried to compile simple little "Hello World" programs, when those didn't work thatz when I gave up.

However, this month I just got a new computer, and I'm taking a course in 3d graphics design. So I'm gonna take another crack at it. Still though just to let you guys know I have no Idea what I am doing so any help would be much apreciated.

do not blame to computer for an error between keyboard and chair.

For one... a "hello world" example has nothing to do with spring scripting.

Second... If you install a compiler write code and go to compile it... the code does not compile it means you have something VERY wrong in the code. I used to program on a 330mhz machine so 1.X mhz is not an excuse also I AM sure wings3d can run on a slow machine.

Congrats on the new machine though also good luck with the modeling. However, you should know that high poly modeling like the modeling used in movies is not what you should learn so remember that you need to learn LOW poly modeling.

NO, I'm sorry you don't understand. it's like a freaking curse man. I've tried unmodified source yousing several different compiling platforms rather it being proffesional or open source.
I can't get ANYTHING to compile. Even if it compiled before with the exact same everything. IT JUST DOESN'T COMPILE!!
And I'm not talking scripting, I'm talking actual code. Delphie, C++, C, ASM, Java in several different compilers, even the freaking demo programs that came with the damned thing (hence the "hello world") don't work!!
That'z where I gave up coding.

I'm just saying after months and months of constant failure to accomplish ANY of my projects I kinda gave up. But now I have a new hope that maybe the curse that has surrounded me has lifted with the joy of a new computer. Hence y I am stating that I will give it another shot.

I admit that I'm a total n008 when it comes to this stuff but that doesn't mean I'm an idiot. I've got persistence n thatz what counts.
