Factorio

There's this relatively unknown game called Factorio.

It's a real time top-down industry building sandbox game with fallout-era style graphics.

You are responsible for setting up the industry on a new planet for colonization. You build giant automated complexes producing vast amounts of pollution that attract hostile wildlife. Build defenses, automate base construction, harvest the planet and augment yourself with power armor.

Game is currently version 0.9.8 and bug free as far as I can tell from a few days worth of time played.

Nice find, thanks for posting.

That is one game that really impressed me.
It feels like an "oldschool" game but with new technology and many things are just right.
Often when one goes back to play an old classic game it is much worse and more clunky than one remembered.
This somehow felt like playing an old game that is as good as the memories of it.

Everything seems really well thought out and is original concept, at least have never seen a similiar game.

From screenshot it looked like "god game" simulation, as Transport Tycoon or Simcity or other build-and-manage-stuff games.

Interessting twist is that player is a peopleperson that runs around and does all the stuff.
So if one wants to build a waterpump one actually has to walk over to the lake and it put it there.
Buildradius is large enough and dude runs fast enough so that is not annoying. But it still adds tactic: for example it is not efficient to run back & forth between ore field and smelter. Needs to build transport belts and robot arms.

There are also some enemies to fight, which adds bit pressure.
On first attempt I failed the last demo level because I had no idea how to build up. In many sandbox games one can endlessly "mess up" without real effect. The enemies are an impulse to build effective and learn the game: If one is too slow to build good industry to produce weapons then monsters eat you.
But one can also sit back and just watch all the stuff being transported around and nice animations (even though some are placeholder art), feels a bit like The Settlers in those moments.

Played the demo, then bought it -- this is a really lovely game. Reminds me of the hours and hours I spent playing The Incredible Machine as a kid. A nice mix of minecraft and dwarf fortress influences, plus some run-and-gun and RTS elements. I'm really looking forward to what they come up with for head-to-head multiplayer.
