Would you like to see Spring popularity growth figures?

Hi,

Just had this idea. Wouldn't it be cool if the server kept a record of the maximum number of users that had logged on and when it was? (and told you when you logged in). Even better, wouldn't it be great to see a realtime graph showing number of users logged in, including a line to show the maximum it's ever been?

Is it worth betalord adding this, or am I just a sad muppet?

That shows the information in raw detail. No nice formatting, prediction graphs, ect. that was propesed by munch. Good for a glance, not good for any detailed study. Plus it only goes back a week. Nicley formatted and long term graphs would be good. But not really a priority.

I'm sure all the stats are sitting in random files arouind the server...

Fnordia, if you're listening, could ya dump them all here periodically so we could knock up some scripts to turn them into pretty charts and graphs? ^_^

It would be awesome also to see how usage numbers of various things correlate to different releases of things, etc :D

That's what he asked for, and that's what's on the stats page, sans the line of maximum.

Wow what an amazing reponse! 97% want some kind of statistics... and most of you are just as sad as me - hooooray =) Thanks for the statistics link - I hadn't seen that before, certainly fills a gap and shows some nice stuff I hadn't even though of.

Love to if I 1) had web skillz and 2) had time. But I've already got a ton of new stuff I need to learn in the next year and I've got too much work to do to do extra stuff right now - sorry. If I did have a few cycles free right now I'd put them into writing an AI. I think our best bet is to see if we can get a Max line added to http://taspring.clan-sy.com/stats/ (at least). A 24hour seasonal average would be good to see too. But maybe I should just put up or shut up.

Given the fact that the statistics are already collated on a web page, maybe betalord could just auto grab the http://cheetah.sentvid.org:8202/clients.png http://cheetah.sentvid.org:8202/battles.png and http://cheetah.sentvid.org:8202/mods.png images direct from the internet and display them in a window?

But seriously, we should be nice to n00bs, for this game is far more complex than any other RTS, and harder to learn. Some Noize will always come rushing in ur tiny little n00b base, to rape ur ass.. We should hang out in the lobby to comfort them after being pwned

We shouldnt have more players till spring is prettier and easier to use.

Which means:

New GUI completed
Spring SP bundled with spring installer or some other variant
Lobby GUI messed around with to make it easier to use and find things for new people
This site being redesigned, adn the problems with people posting and slowtimes beign resolved
