Final version. When DDS works for S3Os, then I will be more than willing to compress the current TGAs- right now, they're a performance hog, because Spring doesn't preload them into RAM. These shots show that all major Spring graphic tricks are being used- teamcolor, glowmaps, reflections. I tried, with some success, to keep true to TA's original art style while taking advantage of modern technique.

Here are some screens. In the first, the unit stands out- this is, in part, because it was intended to be quite large, to make it realistically have that many turrets. Yeha's request was pretty vague, so I went with the concept that this unit would be a "mobile pillbox"- relatively weak on offense, but really strong defense, with the turrets being used to clear out swarms around it- essentially, the Anti-Peewee. We can shrink it, or whatever, of course, but that was the basic concept.

In the second shot, I hope that people will start to see that this unit doesn't look that weird, and fits with other Core specialist units, which is its real "family"- it's not really a classic Core tank, but is a specialized unit with a very specfic role to play.

In the third shot, I have moved the "families" into groups, so that you can, again, see the unit in context. As you will hopefully agree, the unit was very carefully planned out, color-wise, to fit into Core's rainbow of greens, yellows, browns, grey-blues and blacks.

Hmm, maybe it could use a tad bit more metal showing. Or, I was thinking, maybe a more Krogoth like texture scheme, as you could also say its in the big-and-bad family. The picture in my head mixing some krogoth and "specialty" camo together looks pretty good (even though I can't really see it).
Then again, maybe it just needs shinier barrels like the gimp has.

ok this is getting offtopic, so i can jump in. (or better, post this unit in the wip thread!).
How about using more polygons to make the turret's cannons?
Like 5, or 6... maybe 8? (that is an hexagon O_O), or is that too much for spring models?
its like its shoting square bullets rigth now, but i can bare it, as old units all have this kind of barrels, just they use a "degrade" texture, that makes it look like its round (from some angles) (see evolva core commander).
On the unit itself, even when i like the "general" shape it has, it seems it could use some more details.
The concept of 6 lasers, aiming to the flanks of the units, is cool, but it has some "plain" sensation to it.
Altougth, it converts the unit in a equaly effective weapon in (almost) any direction you face it, good for holding ground perhaps, but not that good as offensive gun.
The texture is looking good, altough i liked the first one, it was a bit more defined in the "color patches".
All in all, its like one of those units you dont like inmediatly, but get to appreciate when you use it.

The model is a little lower poly then I would have gone for... but then I didn't even take a shot at it so you can ignore that criticism. I'd like to see a skin with more metal and teamcolor textures and less overwhelming camo. The camo doesn't look terrible in and of itself, it just eats the whole thing and makes it look like a big yellow blob.
