Screens of new map

Post by Kluesy »

Here are some very early screens of a new map by me and cBass. We are working on it and should have it ready for this weekend. Screens are taken from terragen. Any suggestions?

Looks great, almost photorealistic in a few shots.

Those are clearly Terragen renders. I wonder how they will look as an actual Spring map. All that aside, it does look good, if not a bit cramped.

Make the height differences bigger in spring, you get a sense of depth in the overhead shot that I just dont see as well in the side on shots.

Just make sure base area's are nice and flat and that all units can get where they're supposed to.

Not only does the map look great but you should export that skybox as well.IMHO :-)

Unfortunately Terragen does not create true skyboxes. The sky that you see is a single plane that has been warped downward on the edges to approximate planetary curvature =\. I'm sure that you could probably adapt it into a skybox some way or another, but you can't pull it straight out as it is.

Can I contradict what has already been said and recommend against having it highly scales? It's a pain in the arse when the camera cannot stay still!

I'd prefer having something nice to look at thru my camera than a 100% smooth camera transition....

Maybe I should add a camera with suspension to ym great list of tidbits I wanna change in the engine....
