A taptalk popup that wasnt a model js dialog that had to be dismissed and held up the loading of the entire page on a phone would be a far better use of time

Or... you could have tobi go in and disable the prompt (in the tapatalk admin panel), but I understand, bitching incessantly like a 5 yr old is a much better use of your time.

I did press cancel, it was a jarring experience, and it happened on multiple devices multiple times, and other people have complained about it, there's even an XKCD comic about it

Sadly I am not able to look at the control panel, and I was not aware it could be turned off ( how could you turn it off if it requires you to visit the site first? Horrid vicious loop of logic ensues ).

It should also be noted that this plugin is merely a wrapper around a middleman OneAll. They also appear to have followed the stack exchange model of login, and as an avid stack exchange user, the general consensus of users at SE is that the login screen is awful

I originally had the tapatalk plugin registered to me, so that I could maintain it. Tobi asked that I hand it over to him and I complied, and he promptly disappeared. This is why I wanted to maintain it, because I use it often, and oldfags like me, you, smoth, etc will probably still be around for decades to come (maybe we are just gluttons for punishment? ).

WRT the social plugin, as you know, as a developer yourself, the web is fast becoming a path of least resistance medium, especially in terms of logins.

That captcha on this forum works only about 50% of the time and god help you if you try to log in from another machine (I know several people who have been locked out for months). Regardless of whether this plugin is the best or not, it allows existing and new users to link accounts, to google/fb/ etc. Google and FB are the only ones I give a crap about (I don't use fb, but lots of people do), and it would go a long ways towards getting new legit forum blood.

When I registered for this forum, I had to have someone register for me and send me the info because the forum refused to allow me to log in or complete my registration. This issue has not gotten any better.

All at the same time, the tinfoil hats around here (like zwzsg) can still use the traditional methods of registering accounts/logging in, and people who aren't Luddites can easily link their accounts.

On the bright side, if the server ever crashes and burns, maybe we can convince the NSA to send us their backup copy.

Well, I've noticed that you like doing things the very decentralized way. There are others here who prefer that as well. Imo, it makes sense to try to cater to both sides of the coin while still ending up with a net positive impact.
