Think Spring is Bad?
Have you ever tried to find the official source for OpenBOR (open source beats of rage)? OK, now, starting from there, try to find the Android port... too easy? try to find a Game Module that works on both. (incidentally, having been mucking in various "open source game engine projects that are actually games but without assets or scripts but not really" I gotta say Spring is one of the better organized and easy to find stuff about... but also that the term "Module" (referred to as "Mods" but actually being complete games) is a very common nomenclature these days.
Re: Think Spring is Bad?
I toyed with openbor somewhere 2010 i think, wasn't all that awful :)
And spring doesn't work with android at all.

Re: Think Spring is Bad?
Pfft as if any of my stuff could run on the phone I am post from.. at least not without stripping a lot of code out
Re: Think Spring is Bad?
A) I was just using it as an example.
B) Android doesn't just run on phones anymore and the newer gaming targeted Android thingamajobs are supposed to be more powerful than a PS3... I doubt your Spring games are too resource hungry to run on the Nvidia Shield hardware (ignoring the fact that the base code would need to be ported) ( http://shield.nvidia.com/portable-features/ )

Re: Think Spring is Bad?
Correct me if im wrong, im assuming your talking about something similar to a ps3 or xbox correct?
I can imagine spring working on something that runs android, but just not with the kind of games we have today, RTS just fails on these kind of platforms, not to mention spring is an engine more suited to develop RTS games.

Re: Think Spring is Bad?
Again, the topic of Android only came up in the context of developer/user community/infrastructure... and again, not specifically talking about running an RTS on one of those things but more to do with the fact that, specs wise, the new Android devices are equivalent, in computing power, to a computer capable of running the essential aspects of a spring game.scifi wrote:Correct me if im wrong, im assuming your talking about something similar to a ps3 or xbox correct?

My point was that Spring, as a community/open source project that acts as the backbone of a number of games, is doing pretty darned good job compared to projects with similar developer/content creator relationships.
