noob gets his spring crashed frequently (please help me why)

Hello dear forumers,

I recently changed to Ubuntu 12.04 from Windows and things seem complicated.
I successfully installed Spring from the Ubuntu repository and then upgraded it to the latest (I think v94) via PPA. After that I installed some maps and mods with the Lobby but didn't messed a thing with the game files myself.
I'd like to get help in a matter of Spring crashing most of the time (after about 5 minutes of gaming from start, be it Balanced Annihilation, NOTA or any other mod, KAIK or RAI ai). I am just wandering around trying out buildings and units what are they good for as I'm not really familiar with the game.
Maybe computer specs are important: AMD Athlon X2 5200+, nVidia GeForce GT 220 1GB (proprietary driver v304.88), Kingston Hyper... 2GB RAM
Please help me find out what can cause such an issue and how it may be avoided. Thanks for your time.

I don't mind Spring forumers reading my infolog but it involves some sensitive information to be publicly available and a Google search easily revealed it.
If it is expected not to encumber forum threads with such a long text then I completely understand it and will find a more responsible way for sharing it (eg. own website or encrypted database).

I did not try AI-s in some time, so I do not have much experience, but I noticed you have used 2 AI-s. If nobody else gives another suggestion maybe you can try only with one AI and see if there is still crashing.

Both are KAIK. It seems broken. Please try another AI (I think E323... is a good player, but don't know if it works).

If I'm not mistaken RAI also crashed.
Will try other AIs anyways.

Successfully played 2 games so far with AAI, so KAIK might be the problem.
[Offtopic] Not really found on this forum or generally on the internet that how it would be possible to:
- Delete a Spring mod that has no use for me anymore.
(specifically NOTA, I did find Tech Annihilation and the maps on the hard drive, but not NOTA, Zero-K and Balanced Annihilation)
- Invert camera zooming controls.
Current one (mouse wheel down zooms in) just works illogically for me.
