If you have enough of them, no. They reclaim quite quickly in numbers. Plus the enemy will quite often wonder what the hell you are doing instead of actually doing anything themselfs. Its worked for me a few times before. Plus, if the enemy is in the middle of an energy stall, they cant dgun anyways.

ehh, what did you say?

Another:
If your being comm bombed, Press ctrl+a and set the fire mode to hold fire. Then grab a whole bunch of farks and reclaim the thing. No big boom, and lots of metal. Yay!
And let the opponents comm ctrl-d where ever the hell he wants? hell no, I'd rather take controllable losses.

[edit] fixed the quotes that maelstrom screwed up. Don't think it's right but at least it worked.

Hidden features pepole! Not gameplay tips. Atleast express yourself in the right way.

As in:"commanders can be reclaimed! This is a good way of avoiding getting bombed, since they don't explode and such."

You can FPS a unit. Press C while selecting it, and you will be able to drive and shoot. Note that this feature is no very developted, so you can't drive any units without weapon, and you can fire wepons invidudaly.

I've always wondered about map doodles, and finally found the entry about it in the wiki, which says:
Map Doodles

Hold the ` key to draw on the map, only you and your allies can see these doodles. Use this tool to mark out territory or warn of impending attacks or mark enemy bases or play tic-tac-toe before the game... be creative but not annoying.

Hold ` while pressing the left mouse button (MOUSE1) to draw a line.

Hold ` while double left clicking, then type a label then press ENTER to add a labled point(also minimap ping and chat message notification).

Hold ` while clicking the middle mouse button (MOUSE3/Scrollwheel Button) to add an empty point(also minimap ping and chat message notification).

Hold ` and clicking the right mouse button (MOUSE2) to erase lines or points.
On my norwegian keyboard, that's the § key, right over the tab key.

Indeed!
But, on the other hand, that shows just how much unintuitive it is to go search the wiki for info...

Hmm, just noticed this...

Pressing home and end can edit something called veiw distance. If your CPU lagging you can lower your veiw distance and spring will render terrian away from you with less detail. The more you lower, the closer the low detail render comes to you.
EDIT: This is good for smaller maps, or when your only gonna stay in your base. IF you move around on a big map with low veiw distance, the engine has to render terrain of this new place, causing CPU lag. So use this if you stay on 1 spot and want to srsly lower the lag.

Erm, in AA, there are sevral units that can build other units, combat enginer among other.

I vote for a sticky for this thread. LOTS of useful stuff here. While it may or may not be in the wiki as well, the wiki is not the most user-friendly thing out there, and it wouldn't hurt to have the info available in multiple places.

MUahahahaha

try holding alt while ordering a bunch of units around...

its GC style for forming troops, very handy.

im almost sure you know about control while doing the same

on a sidenote... you ever seen video 13 from downloads?

nottice something "strange" ?

was trying to get that effect, with no luck (its not enabled most likely), when discovered the alt thing.

also in video 11, i could swear the fido is in third person view..

eh.. those tricky swedes...

Third person view is done by going into FPS view (ctrl+middle+mouse), selecting one unit (left clicking on it), then pressing T.

a much funnier, easier and more effective way to reclaim a com is to stun it with spiders in XTA or those core stunner drones in AA and just stroll up to him casually and reclaim him. Its also a very good alternative to just blowing up attacking units if you have them under control with paralyzing units in a low metal game..

Commanders in aa are unparalyzable.

@ zwzsg

Have you seen the video?

what i mean, is that he is using that "lara croft" controll mode.

The player is controlling the unit with the arrow keys, (i cant see the mouse giving the orders in that video), like in fps, but using a 3rd person view.

Or that is the impression it gave me now that ive played the game.

Either that, or im just seen things and should not be watching those "old" videos :)

@ fobbah

If you do that, you dont get the 16k metal the commander corpse gives, but like 3.7k... what a waste!! (that is in AA Mod).

Bruce, Comms in AA are most definitely paralyzable. It's a fun tactic. :)

Perhaps the order for the fido in that video was given before the player possessed it? Just cause your following it doesnt mean it cant have had orders before hand.

I'm sure I read in one of the changelogs that comms couldn't be paralyzed anymore, because it was too easy too use bladewings to disable a comm.

Bladewing damage vs comms is just limited to 30, so it's very difficult.
