Tl,dr; Trolls have won, there banner is in the wind, and you try to talk some sense into the fact that this non-benevolent dictatorship has not sunken yet. Which is another point for the trolls, because now your whole moral compass and senses are spinning.

This thread was taken more of a "do we need more moderators" kick to the pants than a decision about weather flozi specifically is the candidate of our dreams (which is not to say he is or is not, just to say a thread like this wouldn't be necessary if everyone was happy with current moderation)

We're talking about the lobby moderator thing too. Also for the record there, Forum moderation and lobby moderation are technically separate things. However, all our candidates that did one but not the other at some point either went inactive, or were appointed to do the other thing as well. There are still several accounts that only have exclusive access, they just aren't active accounts any more.
I question his ability to be impartial and unbiased.

I think beeing moderator wears some people out. Its basically a job, and if you go online for fun (which creating stuff can be) you will start avoiding the site you are moderating (except for your duty) and - one day ask yourself why you do this. So FLOZI, you aware?

that is a good question. Flozi, if you become involved with this, you may loose joy in being here.

If you are referring to my partiality and bias, I don't see why. This is about you, not me.

And yeah, what picasso and smoth said. As a perfect example, look at KaiserJ. I'm pretty sure that he would attest to the fact that being a mod on these forums is very un-fun.

It's the fact that you're doing something that people expect you to do instead of doing it out of the kindness of your heart :P

There was one time where I opened up the forums, saw half a dozen reported threads from spambots, said, "screw this" and closed the tab. It was only once, but having to deal with unrelenting spam-zombies is not fun. Although for some reason I keep coming back ;) Its not all that bad.

To be fair I find it a nuisance dealing with the petty few on S44 forums, though I find it almost as annoying to not be able to do anything about it.

Also it'd clearly annoy Forb which we can all agree is an excellent thing. :P

This is very true. Moderating is very tough if you don't do it in moderation.

There's more spam than ever now... Can't you just make the top 5 reporters mods?

If we made the report as spam function just ban the user and delete all their posts but only for the most frequent users then it'd do the job. Shouldn't be too hard to do either with a bit of MySQL and PHP.

Jaz, it wouldnt be an issue if one could ban and delete all. but and auto delete on report would be a bit too abusable.

I used to keep a spam box on my site, kept all spam posts in it, I banned the bot ip addresses and kept the posts. After a while, bots started slowing down. Even the human ones, I think they ran out of proxies on their little list and gave up bothering with my shit site.

I know all this spam talk is off topic, but I think that the fact that even banned spambots get to keep their links in their signature and it can be viewed from the members page is probably a honeypot.

So because I question your ability to be a impartial and unbiased, that automatically means that it would annoy me "clearly"?

That's pretty silly logic.

Moreover, the fact that me questioning your ability to be impartial and unbiased makes you think that it's ok for you to make a statement like that is interesting.

We could make them both moderator and watch the invisible war- topics appear out of nowhere, and people and topics vannish alltogether. Mysterious spambots always spam at forbs or flozis topics..

The Wiki gets wicked. Yep, sounds like a good solution to me.
