Hi all
Spring is crashing when I try to start it.
I tried adding LoadingMT = 0 to .springrc like I have read on the forums, but that just froze it and I had to restart.
The output of spring as its crashing: http://pastebin.com/nBDVYj08
Looks like its the same as infolog.txt
This is the latest spring release checked out with git and compiled.

Re: Gentoo Spring Crash
the infolog provided appears to show a clean exit (at least there is no evidence of a crash). are you sure it's the right one? if so what symptoms are you seeing?
have you tried a release version?
have you tried a release version?
Re: Gentoo Spring Crash
I didn't notice that, thanks.
Here is a fresh infolog and the console crash: http://pastebin.com/zcKmjYEy

Re: Gentoo Spring Crash
hmmm, definitealy graphics related (crash appears to be inside the ati binary driver). i'm not sure how to debug that directly i think some trial and error is in order:
* Does it crash on older versions
* Does it crash in other mods
* Try disabling more visual features (eg shadows, water effects, in sprinsettings or your config)
At what point does it crash? during the loading screen? what's the last message you see?
I also have a gentoo/ati system but i haven't tried 91.0 on it yet. i'll fire it up later and see if i get the same issue.
in the meantime please post version of xorg-server, kernel, libdrm and ati-drivers installed so i can test those if required.

I will work on checking out an older release from git later today and update you.SpliFF wrote:hmmm, definitealy graphics related (crash appears to be inside the ati binary driver). i'm not sure how to debug that directly i think some trial and error is in order:

So far it crashes for both NOTA 1.71 and Zero K 1.0.10.7
It crashes right after everything is done loading, I usually see the map start for a brief period before crashing.
I tried disabling random things that looked graphic related, fullscreen seemed to make it last a bit longer before crashing, but same outcome.
Re: Gentoo Spring Crash
you should really try that first...abma wrote:try to start it with spring --safemode

Seems to have worked.abma wrote:you should really try that first...abma wrote:try to start it with spring --safemode
What does it do?
Re: Gentoo Spring Crash
it overrides config values, see
http://springrts.com/wiki/Springrc
and search for "safemodeValue" to see which values it overrides.

Re: Gentoo Spring Crash
Other than an audio thread crash and some widget-related gl errors 91.0 seems to be running ok on my ATI 1950xt/Gentoo setup running on the free mesa/x11 drivers (older version 8.1 i think). Looks like your issue might be specific to the fglrx driver. Are you up to date?
Note: I also cleared my .springrc so the defaults spring picks seem alright.
