Bloody awesome stuff!! FF was the best mod of ota and I reckon its just become the best mod for spring. keep up the good work!

I don't think its lost anything by changing a little either, change is good so long as you can still play with million ton battleships :)

quick note: piledriver did not seem to attack anything in v1.08, i'm downloading v1.081 at the moment but theres nothing in the changelog about piledrivers firing arcs. Test for yourself

believe me he is fireing in 1.08 and 1.081... i played with both versions and i m normally core.. i would have noticed that ;)

possible reasons:
- U were attacking big ships and ur energy was 0
- The piledriver was landed on ground

but he is definitely fireing.. i used them in both versions.

DId you change the sound effects? They are a huge amount better then the old one's. I also like how this mod always has an increadbly impressive light show. Even LOW level units look uber cool! Not like in TA where five flashes and a undefended base will result in a quick win, and the over all effect is some bullets and a little smoke. No cool lasers and plasma :(

yes i changed a lot of the sound effects and are still looking for better ones. The problem is, that i dont have many wav files which Spring needs, so if someone of you knows a site with cool weaponsounds or explosions... that would help me and you to increase the feeling of FF.

perhaps it is not a bug, but did you know that the Core Dreadnought (invincible) is much weaker than the Core Battleship? oddly enough, they are still balanced, but it looks like their stats/roles were switched.

thats true.. it is weaker than an arm battleship. But therefore it is stronger against smaller ships, and much less expensive. I use it very often and for its price it is very good. I decided for that, cause cor has the deathhand which is as strong as an arm battleship and the piledriver which kicks the ass of 2 broadsides together...

This is prorbebely just me, but if you have any time to work on the modles, can you make the Arm a bit sleeker?

Or do you still need to balence it?

??? sleeker? You mean more flat or what? If not, explain the word please for a stupid german ^^.
If it means more flat... why? That would look a bit odd, wouldnt it? I mean look the broadside or the warlockII... brrrrr odd! :D
(not to say, that most of the textures would look wrong if i scale only in one direction)

Dictionary.com wrote:sleek - adj.

1. Smooth and lustrous as if polished; glossy: brushed her hair until it was sleek.
2. Well-groomed and neatly tailored.
3. Healthy or well-fed; thriving.
4. Polished or smooth in manner, especially in an unctuous way; slick.
Basically, Sleek means polished, smoth, elegant, and nice looking. Not chunky, blocky, dirty and crude.

thanks!
Ok and arm units look dirty and crude? :( I never noticed that.
Any examples or suggestions for making them sleeker?

Dunno if the units do look clunky, I was just giving examples. But basically just make things look clean and smooth.

"sleek"ify the Warlock Mk.II and I will go on a hunger strike. That baby is classic! I can understand changing the Arm Heavy Cruiser, it looks very blocky compared to... well, everything else!

The reason I bring up the Invincible/DeathHand issue is that the Invincible is labelled a "Dreadnought", and the DeathHand a "Battleship." Currently, for Core the Dreadnought < Battleship, for Arm the Battleship < Dreadnought. It is a bit disorienting, that is why I bring that up. I really don't think anyone would mind if the Invincible was classed as Battleship and the DeathHand as a Dreadnought.

One last thing, if you compare the Core's basic anti-fighter laser to the Arm's basic anti-fighter pulse cannon, the Core weapon cleans house! A pack of Undines is just as dangerous with their anti-fighter laser as they are with their bombs.

Hehe i just reduced the damage of the BomberTurrets by 50% yesterday. So it is already in 1.09 :)
Edit: After tests i decided to also increase their reloadtime by 100%, so now their turret is less than 25% as strong as before. Also i reduced their HP by -200.

You know, I bet its possible to make a true drone frigate (a mobile constructor that builds 'drones' but keeps them stored inside, releases them when told to attack) instead of the script fake-drones right now.

I imagine it wouldn't be all that difficult to make a small 'drone' unit that the frigate can build, that takes off and attacks things in the area directly around the frigate, and who's default action is to land inside the frigate.

Also, if you had that, you could order the drones to attack certain things, ect, rather than just having 3 pieces of a model circle around and fire.

Sounds awesome, but i m not a good scripter and i think u need to be a VERY good one for that, else such a unit would exist.

I think the Bomberproblem is sadly solved by deleting them (the Undine and Hellhawk). Reason is not the unbalancedness, but much more the crashes they produce. I tested a lot of games only with them and all games crashed. You can read it here http://taspring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3635

As long as no one can help me fixing this problem, we have to use the other 2 bombers cause they seem to work fine. I removed their stealthed tag and made them possible in the lvl 2 shipyard, so for you its only that ur bombers wont shoot anymore with something else than bombs and u have some different models.

Also sleeker means roundy and spherish...or at least stylish and cool looking!

The drone frigate, for example, is basicaly a big box... with some things sticking out of it. The brodside could also look way cooler if it looked a little more streamiled and sleek and sutch. However some GOOD examples of really really really cool looking ARM ships are the Thunderlance and the Longbow. Those are some cool ships...

In every other way this mod is nearly perfect!

A bar of soap gets "sleeker" as it is used. Smooth and aerodynamic :)

Smooth and aerodynamic
i think aerodynamic isnt really important n space ;) loot ak the borgs from startrek.
I m sorry, but atm i dont have the time for making the models sleeker. First priority has the balancing atm and after that some more maps. So i hope that i can preview a cool looking map in the near future :)
