Current SpringLobby isn't compatible with 91
Or that is what it says, so it disabled multiplayer functions.
Re: Current SpringLobby isn't compatible with 91
Take a look at official post here: http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=28630
it says: "You still need your current Spring install! 91.0 is going live a few days!"
So "officially" 91.0 is not live yet. So wait few days or switch to 89.0

Strange way to interpret "official release", but okay. Thank you for clearing that up.

The 'official release' comes when spring lobby is told to autodownload the update for 91.
The reason the engine is released a few days before is so as game devs can test their games against it and avoid catastrophe when it is rolled out to everyone.
If you need to use Springlobby with 91, add the line "DisableVersionCheck=1" to springlobby.conf.

In a bigger world, you usually don't release a unfinished project if that is the case. But that last bit is great to know, thanks.
Re: Current SpringLobby isn't compatible with 91
if spring was so good that it had so many testers reporting all bugs before a release, and that all game devs would adjsut their stuff to engine changes before a release, and if all that would happen wihtin a few days, which means engine devs, testers and game devs would have to dedicate all their awake-time on spring, and ...
yeah sure that could happen!
if you have a good link to google, try to get them to sponsor all of us, like they do it for firefox, and it might happen.
alternatively, you could pay for it yourself, and it will hapen too.. so many options man!
you can do it, yes you can!
btw, about two weeks ago, i have seen firefox adds in the metro!
lots of them.
... the f...!
they got too much money!

In a perfect world, yes. I wasn't expecting a perfect release, hell, occasionally units still fall off cliffs (most likely because an old ass map). But you could give the short of final release to the devs before the public, that way you can simply allow multiplayer action out of the box. At least that's my experience with development.

That's what they did. Think of a release that hasn't gone live as a "public release candidate"Zenmetsu Saseru wrote:In a perfect world, yes. There's a way for devs to get access to builds before release, and the fact of an imminent release was made public knowledge August 10th,
A version (90.0) was released but not made live Sun Aug 26
There was problems with this version so a minor updated version (91.0) was released but not made live Thu Aug 30,
(You complained that the version you downloaded wasn't working with the lobby on the 2nd)
This version was made live Mon Sep 03
Ideally the lobbies would support multiple simultaneous versions of Spring but this is a feature we don't have yet (though it seems they are working towards this).

again some ironic, agressive reactions and some good points, too (send money to devs! yeah!). But this specific event is not about releasing itself, but about setting the main server (and TAS+SL) to demand 89.0 still, but almost all autohost requesting spring 91.0. That was the problem for last two days. There were only shity dark ways how to play without Nota::lobby or Z-K lobby.
