interface 'lane' missing

Post by JoshuaB »

I cann't find a way to fix this bug. I use Windows 7 64bit, a GTX480 with the latest driver (258.96) and 2 screens (1920x1080 and 1650x1050) with ultramon. In both fullscreen as in windowed mode I have this lane in my interface missing (see screenshot), no matter what resolution I try.

Does someone know how to fix this?
You'd make me a happier man..!

Your resolution is set too low. Set it to the same as your desktop resolution in springsettings.

Or hit ctrl+f11 and drag it back over.

Thanks for helping me.

The CTRL-F11 idea is nice, but doesn't work for all interface elements.
I tried many resolutions now, but non seems to be right (examples 1920x1080* and 3570x1050**). They ALL mis the same 'lane'. Windowed or not, at any resolution.

EDIT: I uninstalled UltraMon, so that shouldn't be the problem anymore...

Now there is a new problem:
When I change the settings (Lobby -> Edit -> Spring Settings) and I close that window, I get this* message. Changes are applied however.
When I try to enter the settings menu again I get this** message and the lobby stops working.

Any idea?

SpringSettings probably need admin privileges to rename files in that folder.

2 screens (1920x1080 and 1650x1050) with ultramon.
I found spring does not work that well with 2 screens, all mods had some ui widgets that did not work correctly. (strange sizes, position etc)
eg on your screens you also have 50% of the resourcedisplay missing.

2 screens worked best when setting one monitor to show the 3d stuff and using second monitor for a large minimap.
(settable somewhere in springsettings or spring.exe - edit settings)

Thanks for thinking with me.

@very_bad_soldier: I use only one account, which has administrator rights. Strangely all the changes are applied, dispite the error message.

@Knorke: My desktop has a 2screen setup, but I dont want spring to use both screens. My '2nd' screen (1680x1050) is used for showing some hardware-info, skype, lobby, taskbar, etc. I want spring to run fullscreen on my first screen(1920x1080).

However, no matter what I try, always the same 'lane' is missing (see previous screenshots).

Yeah, i think it is a serious bug in the design of spring or windows, but personal user files (+rwe) should not be in a location that needs administrative privileges to make those actions.

So either change spring to use a different folder that is by default Home = writable or change windows to work more sanely (not likely to happen anytime soon)

I still have nightmares of the times i was on windows and every single zk revision update needed administrator access, who could have designed this?
