I luv the sound of complaining smartPhonys.
"This is to heavy of a load..my beautifull bandwhittyness its gone... why cant all of the intertubes be like back in 1995. Oh, wait they can.. all we need is a seperate interneat.
Image

And the best part is, that nothing about it is likely to change, because outdated tv-companys want to drive up the prices for there frequencys. Really... get yourself a comp and start hacking a siteconverter together. Always a better approach then trying to reeducate people into behaviour that suits your phone.

I was hungry for lunch, and felt like eating a burger. I asked for a beef burger at a cafe and was presented with a cow, and 6 people from a bread company who proceeded to produce bread at an alarming rate.

After waiting, being presented with several tables worth of cooked cow, baguettes, and more burgers in weight than I weigh, I asked why they didn't just do what every other cafe does and give me an appropriate burger for the menu they presented. They said I was complaining too much and there was no issue, and they don't have time to give me a small burger, they were tired and just provided a whole cow and bread factory because if they didn't they'd never get it done and they don't have the time.

Not to mention that in this, they completely overlooked that they exerted more time and effort, and that the whole point of their menu was to demonstrate they took little effort to produce.

In this any jittering forb is reporting is masked by the jittering of the poor CPU on my work machine struggling to play 1080p smoothly while I have a full dev environment open ( or grabbing a 55MB file when a heavy animated GIF at 1/10th the resolution would've sufficed while looking pretty cool ).

But no offence Forb, I'm just pointing out the stupidity of Picassos reasoning, I've told him many times that what effort he saves he then spends twice over, and that it's all a moot point when you can automate the entire process anyway.

I had no problem whatsoever loading or playing the video and I appreciated the quality of it. Quite the relieve compared to all those videos in which you can barely see what is going on.

too remain in the steak and bread analogy.. there is noone stopping you from getting yourself a knife and fork, cut out a little piece of steak, put it on a little piece of bread, pay the price, and just walk away from the bbq maniacs. But you prefer to reeducate the insanes, through insane repetition... the universe has to adapt to its known center, and that would be me. And i like my files big. So why dont you just accept your faith.. AF.. its not so hard to carry a laptop around, with decent hardware..

I see this thread derailed. IMHO smartphones don't provide a good web browsing experience anyway. And they are too big and heavy to constitute a good phone. The lack of a real keyboard is a huge minus.

You need a netbook. Use the phone for talking and maybe to stream some music.

Smartphones are excellent for browsing. Maybe not iphones, but that's just because they're so damn tiny, but if you have a decent phone like an evo 4g or an s3, or even a galaxy note, browsing the web on it is quite nice.

Thanks for continuing the derailment. I'm sure something useful will come of it.

I kind of feel it's appropriate these days to host every video that legally can be through youtube unless you're a company that can afford to compete with google. Let someone else do the work of worrying about downtime, worrying about weather your video works on X stupid device, worrying about compression and stream quality. Preferably someone with infinity PHD's who allows you to do what you want for free.

Nope. Youtube does not have an optimal range of compatibility. It refuses to serve videos with ads enabled if you are not using flash. Providing videos in vp8 or theora format (using the html5 video tag and a javascript ui), falling back to h.264 and/or a flash player (for older browsers, iOS and IE, which pushes h.264 due to patent bullshit) would achieve maximum coverage without much hassle on either end. They sacrificed that for ad revenue, since it's vaguely more difficult to block video ads inside their flash player than outside.

Or you could just not turn on adverts when you upload videos...
