Don't do that cause you will make them right, plus you will get yelled at again.
What you need obviously is to play a different kind of game to have fun. Try to play with lower rank.

A lot of player does care about winning and get piss off when "you just sit enjoy the game". You should respect that also and understand they don't what to play with you

You need to find the same kind of player, try to play with JMF and some of his ACE friends, they are several time vet and still just play for fun and don't care to win.

Artturi, you are very wrong. The smaller player base has resulted in way less DSD games, and a much more varied map pool.

Unfortunately, we dont police autohost admins, as the autohost owner is donating their own server and can do anything they wish on it. There are many other hosts.

Vis, stirring the pot in a drama queen fashion will not accomplish anything. A sane voiced appeal to the autohost owner, or to a lobby moderator will usually be much more effective.

With springlobby, zklobby, and now weblobby, you can summon your own autohost/relayhost. You have as much power as any of them!

Just to make it clear: My rank is "Experienced" (purple medal). Maybe you can't find me because I recently found the Tools>Change username option and used it. I definitely wasn't smurfing or trolling...

With springlobby, zklobby, and now weblobby, you can summon your own autohost/relayhost.

I think relayhosts close if host leaves? Also no automatic team balancing, which is needed when there are 20 players of varying nubness that keep clicking things.

Hi all,

I was not on the game, but as there was a replay I decided to watch and see why players should/would be banned.

I encourage others to do so as it goes to the heart of what the BA community want for their game. This is first post I have written, but the attitude of some on this thread makes me want to just add something to counter the extreme negativity I see inflecting the discussion boards and play.

Please remember these are just my thoughts (after watching the replay twice):

MiNiMi played an aggressive and well controlled push forwards. Really taking good ground in the initial parts of the game.
The banned player (Vis) started behind MiNiMi, and spent time building up a base.

As the game progressed Vis kept building (mainly T1 planes) and expanding his economy. MiNiMi kept pushing forwards and making more ground.

As the game went on Vis seem to be reluctant to enter the fray, concentrating on building fighters. No real aggression, but lots of economy. This can be a good tactic when “behind the front line” as a nuke or Krow sent into the opposition can turn the tide of the game.

MiNiMi came unstuck, with a risky commander transport that was ill advised and did not reflect the quality of play we saw before. The opposition then rolled MiNiMi’s defences and were about to enter his main base.

I can see frustration for MiNiMi – being rolled while the teammate behind appears to do little. There is a brief exchange between the players. MiNiMi starts with an insult and it when downhill from there. More insults from both sides and Vis is banned.

So Vis was banned for not what? Not being an aggressive enough player? Turtling up, but not sending units forwards?

Or was the banning just because the person in control was having a bad game and made a childish decision in a fit of pique.

My view it is the latter. It appeared (and I stress appeared) to be unjustified, petty and so unfair that one wonders what was the point.
So maybe Vis needs should take to heart that being in a DSD game means the balance between building your base and helping the team. Lots of T1 planes were not going to help as much as a few Krows. That is a learning experience.

Now if Vis was a nubie and this was his first game; would they be back to play again after the abuse and comments? Perhaps not. That is my point. First a petty banning and then so much negativity in this thread. I am sure we all want BA to succeed. But if this is the best we can do – it is going to hell in a hand basket.

again, the spring community does not control the auto host NOR does it control the auto's choice of moderators in his/her server.

people have complained many times about that autohost but refuse to actually move to a different sever.

You cannot make people do what you want by brow beating them into submission. I don't care for the behavior shown by many of the autohost moderators but I cannot and should not try and tell them how to run their server.

The DSD servers are largely LOATHED by most of the forum community but we do not and should not control THAT autohost. IF we did, it would be crossing a larger uglier line of server admin abuse.

No tweaking or reading, host a game and a springie comes to serve you. Springie's selection of maps is equal to the maps on springfiles.

I'm not familiar with chrank but elo works well.

No tweaking needed? With tweaking I meant you need to be familiar with the various configuration options available to configure it to act in the way YOU have in mind. I doubt you want to just spawn an autohost and play with the default configuration whatever that is.

Also I dont want to play ALL maps available. Lots of the >1400 maps available on springfiles arent worth playing imo. So I rather join a host that I know has a good set of maps that is appropriate for the configured player count.

When I enter an autohost I know which maps and which configuration I can expect. I prefer that to a randomly spawned autohost I know nothing about.

Hm, I am not familiar with ELO but how long does it take when a troll enters with a 1-bar-rank to treat him as a vet?
Maybe it is just more efficient to have some human admin that can judge the skills of players (rather than an algorithm) and chrank them within seconds. Admins may mess things up also ofc.

Sooo. What vbs said + what knorke said. Autohosts do more than a springie and the players are there so the players are there.

About complaining about autohost admins on the forum. Alot of people said that it serves no use because they don't moderate admins on autohosts. So what? The forum can be used to reach the autohost owner and (potential) players of that autohost. This way the complaint made can alert the owner and the players of a shitty autohost mod.

I would still have kick him at least cause it is good for both parties:

- This guys wont play dsd anymore and can enjoy his simcity eco and having fun with single player or on small host. Plus he wont be yelled at again.

- The other "competetive DSD players" (lol) wont spend energy yealling at him

The most wierd thing is: Minimi is admin on TERA and make good t1 push : If i was him I would just limit the number of player to the number advise by the map. If he is not he is just shooting a bullet in his own feat and should only complain about player ecoing in the back.

Yes, you're wrong. As I stated, hosting using these lobby clients generates an autohost for you. They are no different in performance than the autohosts that sit open all day.

There is more in this world than autohosts and springies.

To actually 'attack' the springies: as said earlier in this thread it is not so much about the capabilities of the host (autohost, springie or human) but about how many people are in the host. People attract people before that is where a game is most likely to start. A fresh springie NEVER has 9 players waiting for you so they can start a game. Also people are attracted to what they know and come back to what they liked. The persistent autohosts do not only have people coming back for them, they also have specific map rotations, settings and admins. The whole reason this thread started is because one of those admins on one of those hosts sucks according to the topicstarter. He now knows not to come back to that autohost.
