A Suggestion: The basic problem is that for every mod independent from Total annhilation (s44 aside) there are not enough players. This is either because of belonging to a special interest group (KP, Gundam) or beeing not enough known to the public (Evo, Cursed) now the idea is that we all never could ever gather enough personal and therefore momentum to get the avalanche rolling.
But bundled strength can do it. We form a watch. Three or two people waiting in a autohost, willing to play any of the above mentioned title during our shifts. If we manage it well, every game gets the same amount of "filled host-time"

Its actually nothing new, most of us play Springs "Indys" anyway, so why not organize it?

Re: theWatch
So this is targeted at new players that login, don't find a game and leave? I think you need some supporting infrastructure that allows people to indicate that they would play many different games.
I like the idea but I don't see how a new player that installs evo is to gain anything from a few people idling in a KP host. Something has to indicate to that player that there are people who would play evo.

Re: theWatch
Not sure if that would work. (What timezone would that even be?)
Instead players should just ask for other players in chat? But I never see that happen for some reason. Maybe it could be encouraged somehow (topic of channel or something)

Re: theWatch
How about a placeholder chatbot that can stay in games of selected autohost and once someone joins you are informed?
Re: theWatch
I'd like to sign up on that list. Having 1-2 players to play against in thoose games could be fun.
Learning new games and figuring out economy, tactics and strategies is a fun process plus I will likely lose a few games in the process which could be fun for a change.
Although I'm not sure I'd be able to teach new players unless they actually listens or use mumble because ill propably be bored after a few games teching to krog while they figure out how to play.

Re: theWatch
Good idea I have an idea for a variant of it, sort of. I think a decent ladder/challenge system would be better because it is a more service-oriented and casual way of playing with complete strangers.
A page with a list of challenges(craigslist of spring). You enter details and schedule a 1v1 Gundam game at 16:00 PST. Then you obediently wait and see if anyone accepts the challenge. If they do you faithfully wait until that time then yell them up on the lobby or vice versa.
