New server available!

New server available!
The current server is just too overcrowded, many lobby disconnects and website time-outs.
So something had to change!
Now i have rented a dedicated server and it will be only available and optimized for webservices.
SpringFiles.com will move to there as soon as the server is ready.
I have no problems if other spring related sites will move to there too, to release the heavy load on the main server of Licho.
The specs:
Intel i5 4x 2.66+ GHz
1 Gbit nic
16 GB RAM
2 TB hdd
Remote backup space
15 TB bandwidth / month
I hope this will solve the capacity problems for Spring's main server

Re: New server available!
nice!
thanks jj!

thanks jj!
Re: New server available!
Nice :)
Is it possible to coordinate with Licho to get both servers (in the future) into the same data center? That would - if needed - allow for easier migration, load-balancing, mutual backup, database replication (users accounts?) etc.
My offer also to you: I can help setup libvirt+xen/kvm.

15 tb/month? That is insanely awesome!
Thanks jj!
Thanks jj!
Re: New server available!
I think that should be possible.
The server is ordered at the same company.
I think this one is hosted in the Netherlands but it could be that it is the same datacenter.
Could you explain why we would need virtualization software?
Thanks for your offer.

Re: New server available!
In case you have services that need separation for security reasons. Or you have admins that you dont trust on the complete host, but in a separate VM would be OK. To test unstable/dangerous software. To have multiple, but less cluttered systems.jj wrote:Could you explain why we would need virtualization software?
It's mainly about management. If there is no reason (eg the above does not apply, or can be implemented differently), than ofc it's better to not use virtualization --> less complexity.
Re: New server available!
Fantastic news for the future security of Spring.

Re: New server available!
SpringFiles has moved to the new server.
Check for yourself, its fast!

That migration went fast! And it is fast indeed :)
Re: New server available!
Currently 90% of the CPU/Mem/Bandwidth is unused.
I'm looking for people who know how to use those untouched resources
In other words, let me know if your website/project needs a server. There is plenty of space left!

Thanks for saving me the trouble of implementing torrent downloading in my lobby.jj wrote:Currently 90% of the CPU/Mem/Bandwidth is unused.

I don't need your web 1.0 hosting services when there's cloud hosting services now(google app engine) which are completely free(to a certain point).
