The games that resemble Total Annihilation are nothing like Total Annihilation and play completely differently.

Spring is not Total Annihilation.

Spring is not an attempt to "play TA in 3d".

There is no real single player and most of the AIs you see, only work with BA (There are a few exceptions).

You mix insults with whining.

It's not that it's impossible, it's that spring makes it very very difficult to do it properly. It's not like that is no wish for proper saves and loads, its that doing so is not an easy task.

Z's sp menu does it, but to get to that you have to start spring directly, which is it's primary flaw (I'm not calling it bad code, it's jsut that going via spring.exe to get to the menu is bleh, unless the lobby were ingame as well. in that case i would shut my trap).

I'm looking to start an AI in C# - i know there have been some in the past, and FA promises me it's possible, but I don't know how. Any ideas? It looks to me like CSAI is the only one made in C# - but it's old and not compatible with current versions of Spring. Is this possible? I assume I'd have to write a wrapper - how would I go about doing this? I have very little experience with Lua, and a bit in Java and C/C++ - but C# is definitely my best language - and I'd love to try to write an AI - particularly for Evolution RTS :)

Any ideas would be appreciated - thanks!

Jools, it's because that "Lava" is actually water. The creator should have used voidwater and a typemap (that's all they had back then). In modern times... it should be redone using the lava gadget from behe's map.

anyway, SOPA is a horrible, horrible thing. and in the end? pirates will still be able to get whatever they like, whether it's by swapping discs, BBS like in the old days, cloudshare, or some other way that i cannot yet fathom

most of my piracy comes from rapidshare/megaupload these days anyway rather than torrents, and yet torrents are still the boogeymen mentioned in these industry breakdowns; not that places like icefilms or katz or wiziwig.eu won't be impacted, i just feel like pirates are always going to be a step ahead, as they have and will always be until the end of time

i doubt this bill will pass as shown in the current form given the amount of resistance from the general public, but just in case, i'm downloading a few years worth of entertainment to tide me over.
