Free Game Alliance

Post by Google_Frog »

Has anyone 'in marketing' looked at Free Game Alliance and how it relates to Spring? Spring doesn't quite fit in the FGA model (as it's not a game) but it is relevant to some of their goals in creating a developer community. It would be good if developers in that community were aware of Spring as an option for creating an RTS or even as an open source project to contribute to.

So does anyone think contacting them would be worthwhile?

Sure. Try to assess how big they are, and spend time marketing Spring there accordingly.

Many of the games on indiedb are not free/os though and not all projects there are looking for contributors either.
This FGA thing on the other seems to about informing about what os projects are looking for people? (both devs and players)
All projects in FGA use an open development approach. This means they are eager to leverage the community (YOU!) to improve their creations.
The game's subpages seem to be well done to me, good videos too.

Is it a community? At least I can not find a forum link etc.

This is a collection of five games that are working together to get devs and players to promote/contribute to those games.

They've got a strong "one game per genre" credo, and they already have MegaGlest and Wesnoth as members.

I don't think the FGA represents very much opportunity to our community at this point in time.

But these games are not set in the future, seems they are both in the middle ages or so.

Spring games are so much more different, I think it could fit in.

Besides, has anyone even asked what they think of Spring?
