SOOOO... I have a hard time not trying out things that are free...
Anybody else give it a go?
I am quite intrigued by their pricing model... you can buy a "membership" for: 1 Month ($4.99), 3 Month ($12.99), 6 Month ($24.49), 12 Month ($29.99), Lifetime ($34.99)
Which apparently unlocks "Premium access includes deluxe housing, all jobs unlocked mounts like Dinosaurs and Unicorns and exclusive minigames like epic ship Pirate battles"
But for the most part you can play the game for free... what they do though is when I buy something in the store they have this "you could have saved 10 gold if you were a member" and in the mini-games there are "goals" (like mining a certain number of ore or getting a certain score or getting a high enough combo) but then there are also "premium" goals that you can't get rewarded for if your not a member... and then, after the game when I'm awarded my 12 gold it tells me that if I had been a member I would have gotten 48 gold instead.
I especially like that there is an option to just buy a "permanent" membership...
Now, personally I'll probably play the game for a bit and then forget about it so I'm not gonna give them a red cent and they seem to be fine with this... but it's a cool model.

If you took Puzzle Pirates and combined it with World of Warcraft I think you'd get this game...Wombat wrote:i checked screens and trailer and im confused D:

It follows the traditional "MMORPG" model but combat is optional (not entirely excluded)... if you are uninterested in combat you can level by playing minigames instead.
As far as the graphics are concerned... the game designed to be played by children.
Re: Free Realms PS3
didnt play both PP and WoW XD could give it a try if there is some sort of more or less developed fighting.

Re: Free Realms PS3
One complaint so far is that I don't seem to have triggered a tutorial automatically... I found an NPC and started following his guild's quest line and this seems to be acting like a tutorial... but then later I was tasked to buy something from a merchant that I didn't have enough money for... I went and played a mini-game that I had earned a few gold in before and sold an item I had a duplicate of and was able to complete the quest but the game didn't tell me that this was something I should do...Wombat wrote:didnt play both PP and WoW XD could give it a try if there is some sort of more or less developed fighting.

If I had been a kid who had never played an MMO before I would have been totally lost at at least 3 different steps in the process.
Re: Free Realms PS3
(laughed hard when i read this on ED)The gameplay of Free Realms is ultra-casual and obviously targeted at 12 year old girls. Everything is colorful and almost patronizing (for example, if you do not quickly find three blocks to match in the Bejeweled-style games, it does it for you.) The game also downloads things over time, like Guild Wars does, and is almost completely instanced (meaning you fight monsters and do other fun, useful activities away from people in the overworld area.)
