This is a really odd bug, have never encountered it before. Are you on linux? Did you accidentally switch input locales? I use synergy2 and it has trouble with keys after I press caps lock, but nothing this bad.

Maybe you did the (left?)ctrl-shift combo. This can change a keyboard setting which affects the things described. Pressing ctrl-shift again fixes it.

Could you please clarify whether or not adding points without labels and drawing marks work? It almost sounds like you're saying you can't any points at all.

Like already said, the bug occurs if you accidentally switch keyboard layout in the middle of the game. Disable the keyboard shortcut in regional and language options to fix the problem.
