Is RZBX in fact a very skilfully coded bot?

Post by PJY »

I've been wondering this question for a few days and I wanted to throw it open to the community for general comments.

Why do I think RZBX could be, in fact, a skilfully coded bot? There are a number of reasons.

1. Everytime this entity appears, *exactly* the same thing happens. The entity invariably spectates and spends a lot of time telling everyone what it thinks they are doing wrong. Often these remarks apparently bear no resemblance to what the player is actually doing. Often the remarks are erroneous. Sometimes the remarks don't even make basic grammatical sense (despite the entity being allegedly American and therefore presumably having at least a rudimentary grasp of the English language).

2. The entity itself very rarely plays in games. When it does, rather ironically given all the aspersions it likes to cast, it usually doesn't play all that well. Sort of better than a bot but not as good as many other silver star based players.

3. When you try and engage RZBX in conversation, often you find yourself in one of those "ships passing in the night" type of conversations where both sides' remarks are passing each other by. This is exactly the sort of conversation that one can have when one is conversing with AI.

All of this leads me to wonder if in fact RZBX is an ingenious bot. It is perhaps coded by someone who gets a big kick out of having a bot criticise everyone else constantly, but without too much locus standi to do so? If so, whoever coded this bot is a comic genius.

Of course I realise that someone called RZBX may now appear to post that it is in fact a human. But anyone can adopt a nom de plume and post so that doesn't prove anything. In a sense there isn't any real proof because we are all ultimately just names and lines of text and mouse button pushes to each other, as we never meet each other in physical reality. So the only real evidence on which we can judge human versus machine is use of language, actions and playing style (the Turing test).

In saying that I realise it can now be suggested that I am a bot. But I can assure you that I'm not. Unless, of course, I've been programmed to say that????

Finally, if RZBX is genuinely a human and reads this, please can I say that I am not intending to be rude. But I have been wondering if you are human or not.

You hit straight to the point!

Which leads us to think, whether we all are actually just a bots, which some hypergeek in hyperreality (in other hyperuniverse in other words) have programmed and rzbx just being one of the malfunctioning ones...

I don't recognize insects as living things but machines needed for the slow terraform of the planet.

Me imagines, AF crawled over his screen, yelling "IT lives, it lives" in the dead of night.
