Life On Enceladus!

Post by Panda »

It has been newly discovered that, Enceladus, one of Saturn's moons has a saltwater ocean under it's icy surface! :o

http://news.discovery.com/space/encelad ... 10622.html

Saltwater is needed for living things to survive and there are organic compounds on this moon. On earth we have discovered a new kind of shrimp living under our glaciers where it is dark and no oxygen present, so life doesn't need sunlight or a lot of heat to live.

http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/featur ... hrimp.html

There could be alien life living under the glaciers on Saturn's Moon! Scientists are making a probe right now that can be sent to Enceladus to see if there is life there. I hope we find alien, shrimp-like creatures!

Life might exist on Enceladus
In the interests of accuracy, you might want to change the thread title.

Imagine a aquatic society, that has found out that the sky is made of ice, and there first astronaut(iceminers) were sucked away by the mysterious darkness beyond the crystall sphere.

Sure the pondpope will burn that probe in some black smoker. We should man it, so there is a real reason for war. Also, i hope everyone at nasa has washed there hands, or those aliens might catch a cold.

Real life?
Me might find structures weve never seen on earth or perhaps we will find something extremely similair that will somehow tell us that both it and earth's life are of the same origin?
We might find a completely different way for life to exist...
who knows what knowledge and benefits we might extract from a never before seen life-form.

Maybe find space cancer, that overgrows the earth? Only way to be sure is to nuke it from orbit!

Astronauts do decontaminate themselves once they come back from space, which is the best they can do. Risks are always involved in exploration of any new environment (for example, muscle mass deterioration and going crazy from being trapped in space for too long).

Yep, who mentioned anything about highly evolved life forms. This article talks about the possibility of life (any life form) on Enceladus. It would be interesting to find a completely different way for life to exist as we will surely exist in different ways some day if we survive.

The inhabitants of Enceladus have not released any maps or games here, infact theyve shown no interest whatsoever in RTS, I find this thread highly irrelevant, and reccomend said inhabitants be banned for their slur

There could be shark-like mermaids there who go on feeding frenzy at the smell of blood.

 Yep, there are plenty of poems like Die Loreley, stories, and songs out there about malicious predatory creatures similar to the mermaids in this movie in mythology. I still liked the movie a lot.

Higher Lifeforms, I dunno... if there would be, relations would quick turn into gametheory. Remember what happened to civilisations who met western conquerors, with just three or four hundred years development difference? Also, Alien might be real alien, not just humans in diffrent bodys. If you cant imagine that... read Blindsight
