A few fun things. Most non-computer games are sports, shooter and "action.." like 50+%
where as pc 33.6% STRATEGY 20.3% rpg. hey hey hey! represent!
don't be faggots and demand more detailed statistics you can fucking google that yourself. If you are too anal to be able to understand a general stastical chart without debating the points you by all means can go fucking get a degree in statistics and start collecting your data. I'll be dead before you collect the data for this past year.

Re: Got clued in on this report.
Some people do not blindly trust data just because it is organized in an appealing manner.
Re: Got clued in on this report.
how did they get that age ? i thought everyone choose random age when game/forum/anything asks. i always pick highest possible, for lulz.
Re: Got clued in on this report.
age verification on websites is not a reliable source of info.
This info seems bogus as fuck.

Re: Got clued in on this report.
Some people try to come off as intellectuals by questioning everything. Still others feel smarter by adopting a cynical world view because it isolates them from the cattleclass happy in bliss group. Others feel they are better because they question rather than question what matters.Coresair wrote:Some people do not blindly trust data just because it is organized in an appealing manner.
I'll not get drawn into this debate, you are young, intelligent and unfortunately will have to go through this phase. I spend all much of my day solving problems and answering questions. I am too tired to have to prove anything I post. The burden of proof does not fall on me and I am not here to be your researcher. You have no reason to bring your personal negativity into a discussion which is merely a surface level discussion. If you wanted to discuss the finer points of something relevant be my guest but I will not spend hours digging up pointless statistics to try and prove or disprove something which is an overview of what is likely gleened from petabytes of data.
You can be young and spend your time debating each an every point that is presented. By all means if that is your area of interest.. Go to college for stastics and work here: http://www.census.gov/.
Oh you are worried about trusting authority telling you what to do? did you know floride is in the water supply? You might want to worry about that or the carcinogens that are used in making plastics more flexible from condoms to ziplocks. Or about how cellphone towers....
there is a world of shit to worry about and as you have gotten long in the tooth you will begin to start seeing stuff you should and should not question and care about. Right now I am tired and don't have the patience to tell you anything. Not that you will hear me at this point in your life, it is an important phase that you must go through and develop your world filter. Just don't go forb or neddie levels of extreme polarized. Try to see how much time some people waste on these things and consider what they could do with the time.

LOL

(how do you like this FU face?pretty awesome no?)
I like how they add small quotes about how amazing gaming is for humanity...

What is a better way of spending your free time?
Playing basketball, surfing, rollerskating, reading a book/learning something new/educating yourslef or grinding in world of warcraft?
Grinding in wow does prepare you well if you plan on being a factory worker in an assembly line...

Re: Got clued in on this report.
Wow, 37. I didn't think that the average age of gamers would be that high, but I guess when you take all of the kinds of games that are out there into account, it makes sense. After all, it takes money to buy the games. Plus, more families seem to be using video games as a way to spend time together since technology has become such a big part of our lives. We really are all a part of the gamer generation. I know a lot of people at my university and people who are older than I am who like to play video games.
Some people always seem to act so surprised when you're over the age of 20 and say that you like to play video games, but it's really not that unusual. I think that it was great that a fairly high percentage of gamers are older and that a lot of them are women too. Spending some free time on a gaming related hobby is, in my opinion, better than watching reality TV shows or a lot of the other stuff that comes on TV in the evenings. It may even be better if you have a family and you want to spend time with your children.

You can't always do all of these things, though. Sometimes, it's good to just do something fun. Besides, there's more out there than WoW.Gota wrote:What is a better way of spending your free time?

Re: Got clued in on this report.
Thats pretty expensive.
Re: Got clued in on this report.
Either way, it is an interesting report. All reports are given to the possibility of selective sampling etc. same can be said with many research reports which can be skewed either through wordplay or even number crunching and omitting details. Point is that it is still a reasonable report, I was interested in the varying places they pull data from and some of the points they make. clearly they are trying to counter act the whole vidiagames turn ur kids into killing machines if they would just wipe the mountain dew off their face and get in shape we would be in trouble stereo type. However other things like digital purchase on the rise, noncomputer games being on the rise at the same time computer games are on the decline and the immutable fact that gamers ARE getting older. It is interesting.
It is very possible that gamers have reached a mean age of 37. Even with all the kids playing games. We have grangran on the wii bowling. I shit you not, 2 christmases ago I was at my aunts and the adults were all playing wii bowling with the kids. It was very neat how all the adults were interacting with their kids and and my aunt got to see them laughing and playing(she is a grandmother the kids were my cousin's children). My cousins are like 50-50 years old.
So the age makes sense to me and while it may be possible that the stats are skewed one way or another. It should have been some interesting discussion. Instead people are more focused on going NAH I need to fact check this. Because by all means this of all things is where we need to fact check >:|.
Either way, was meant to be a neat discussion. Instead it became a huge waste of time.

Re: Got clued in on this report.
I enjoy playing video games with loved ones during the holidays as well.
Re: Got clued in on this report.
I am a phase. I embody my own phase. It's like cellular interphase, except cooler.
