Strange Lines through maps, and odd colored grass

Post by sellerman122 »

Hello all I am running Spring 0.82.7.1 on Ubuntu 11.04 x64

My specs are:
AMD Phenom II x4 3.x Ghz
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
8GB DDR3 1600 RAM

I am noticing that when I zoom far out on my maps, dashes appear in the map, when I begin to zoom in, they disappear.

The same goes for grass in maps, far out they have a strange black, brown, or purple look to them, but when I zoom in, all appears as normal.

I never remember any of this occurring on Windows using the exact same config and exact same specs.

My graphics settings are set very high, and tweaked up with the expert mode in springsettings.

Attached are some pics showing the dashes and grass. Does anyone know why this is happening, and how I may fix this?

Thanks in advanced!

Scanlines are a bug caused by an old version of the map converter tool. It cant be fixed save by recompiling a map - which means it has to be redistributed. Almost all maps before 2009 have this issue. The issue has since been fixed for new maps.

The patches of grass you mention are caused by a different bug. Try the following: launch spring in full screen mode, but dont alt-tab before it loads 100%, make sure its in focus during the whole loading. That should fix it.

I know most of my maps are post 2009, as for the alt-tabbing I never do any of that, I launch my game and start it, alt tab doesent even seem to work for Spring in Ubuntu.

I will remove my current driver and try the 1 listed above in the link then report back with the results.

Not a single change after removing, purging and installing the downgraded drivers, also tried a re-installation of the latest drivers.

Is it possible that this could be an issue with natty?

Is there anything else I could possibly do to correct this?

...But Beherith, that second screenshot is of Nuclear Winter!
That's your map, compiled with your mapconv, in late 2009! How can this be?
