EvolutionRTS/EvoLobby Fatal Error on Launch

Post by sellerman122 »

Hello all I am running Spring 0.82.7.1 on Ubuntu 11.04 x64

My specs are:
AMD Phenom II x4 3.x Ghz
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
8GB DDR3 1600 RAM

I have installed Evolution RTS 1.4 and it launches perfectly fine from the SpringLobby. But I was wanting to tweak some of the settings because I couldnt figure out how to get EvoRTS to run in Total War Mode.

This was probably the wrong way of doing it, but I went into the EvoLobby, and configured the spring settings, which were different than the spring settings found in SpringLobby.

Upon launch in the EvoLobby I get the following error message:
DotfileHandler: Could not write to config file
The game will then not launch.

What would be the proper way to configure Evo to run in Total War mode, and fix this error so it will launch the game.

Thank you in advance!

I don't have evolution rts so I can just guess, but spring has many camera control mode, you can switch between them with Ctrl + Backspace, or directly to one specific mode with Ctrl + F1/2/3/4 (Total war being F3)

but if EvoRTS uses a special camera widget you will either have to disable it to use the default spring camera modes (in the F11 menu) or you can try every ctrl/alt/shift + left/middle/right button combination

I have no idea what satrik is saying, but this was a bug in the launchmethod used for evo lobby and was fixed early this morning. In the future when reporting bugs in specific game installs (in this case, evo) it would probably be best to post in the evo forums, but we check her3 too so no big deal.

For more details and how to easily fix it yourself: http://forums.evolutionrts.info
