Display driver problems
I'm sorry to make another one of these posts here, but I'm having another problem with this game. Every so often, BA will completely crap out and cause my display driver to stop working. Sometimes it doesn't even recover and I have to do a hard reboot to fix it. I'm running an Nvidia GeForce 9800 S with the most recent driver update and all of my graphics settings for BA are at the default level. I run the game in a window at 1600 X 900 resolution.
Infolog.txt says to either upgrade or downgrade my graphics card driver, but I'm really scared of doing that. Am wondering if there is a specific graphics setting in Spring that is causing this problem.
Really enjoying this game when it works, and I'd like to be able to go a few games without this program destroying my machine. Help would be greatly appreciated.

No worries, just attach the entire infolog as an attachment to your post. Any part of it may be relevant.

Re: Display driver problems
i nearly reported your post for excessive stupidity.
READ MAN!
post this stuff though pastebin.com, or as attached file, NOT in-post as text, k?
edit: sorry... had a bad day
nice to see you are learning, but maybe edit your other posts to remove the text there (so there is less scrolling).

*sigh* Sorry. I was just trying to follow the Mod's instructions, and didn't understand.

Re: Display driver problems
Sorry for the double post, but while I was reading today, something occurred to me.
Read about something called Vertical Sync. Now, my computer is a firebird 802 that can run Crysis and Supreme Commander at max graphics settings. My question is would enabling Vertical Sync, making BA match my monitor's refresh rate, make the game stop crapping out on me?
Edit: Sorry to have wasted everyone's time. If I had gone straight to the troubleshooting FAQ (which in my defense, I did not know existed until recently) I would have seen a section devoted to Nvidia cards. Apparently, they don't like rendering shadows. So, I turned them off and this seemed to fix the problem.
Moral: I.... am goddamn idiot.

Re: Display driver problems
I wouldn't go that far...My 9800 GT has had some issues before, but I've always learnt to fix them through some sort of troubleshooting tree. I'd also like to bring another possibility to the table, since my card has never had a problem with shadows or anything else: sometimes, going from fullscreen to the desktop will crash spring, rarely, but sometimes. This can be caused by pausing and hitting the windows key for some reason intentionally, or by accidentally hitting it mid-game and either lagging out or generating that telltale stacktrace. Since spring isn't even in the full version yet, it's actually quite necessary that you report these things so that they can be rectified as necessary.
Re: Display driver problems
in open source, version numbers have less special meaning then in commercial software, usually. for spring, this is the case too.
in other words.. spring will one day go from version 0.99.x to 1.00.0, but it will be no different change then going from 0.82.x to 0.83.0.
Spring is considered to be quite stable by now. the vast majority of crashes is GFX driver related these days, and thus not under our control.
but yeah.. nice you found the problem!
