that void walker page sounds interesting valheru; if you're using MR seals, i'm guessing that you aren't using clarity... what summoner spells do you use?
i'll have to give your config a shot; ATM i'm using flat AP in all rune slots (works great if you can get early sorc shoes) and the clarity keeps me in a reasonable amount of mana if i save it until level 4 (after that i generally have catalyst so i can spam like crazy)

Yeah just to clarify when i say its MR glyphs, thats magic resist, not mana regen. On malz i use flash + ghost/ignite, and on kassadin i use teleport + ignite/cleanse. I like to take cleanse on kassadin if im rushing a soulstealer as it means i really never die.
If youre going for AP what you really want is MPen for marks(you simply need this, you get so much more damage from this than having AP marks), some type of utility seals, maybe flat health or health regen if you want to lane for longer, and flat AP quints and AP/lvl glyphs. At lvl 6 the AP/lvl glyphs become better than the flat ones, its a much better choice imo.
As for the item build on malz, i go:
mana stone + 2 hp pots > catalyst > sorc shoes > ROA > death cap > abyssal sceptre > rylais > situational final item.
What this gives is the much needed health and magic resist needed when youre supressing yourself in the middle of the enemy team, but maintains that huge AP for damage output.
I do actually sometimes swap out my flat AP quints for my movement ones if janna is on the team (gives HUGE movespeed :D )

how MUCH more damage in practical terms? and what runes then would you suggest if i wanted just flat damage runes

-doran ring (brings me to 50 AP at game start)
-sorc shoes (around level 5 or so in time for my ult)
-catalyst
-blast wand
-deathcap (or mejais if im already winning)
-RoA
early power allows me to zone and offset my dorans purchase against my opponent via denial (seems to work 9/10ths of the time)
at this point i either decide if i'm going to be nuking (i'll go for void staff or abyssal scepter or hourglass depending on who i'm facing and if they are clustering) or to use my ult to "set up" other heroes (go for CDR like morellos tome)
my current build invariably wrecks caster/range guys who don't take a doran prior to level 6 with two bursts, but if you can make me even more effective for that sort of play, i'm listening. (coresair can attest that i'm a fairly good malz and not talking out of my ass)
ignite seems a bit of a waste beyond first few levels for malz IMO; but does it stack with MP? idk even, hmm. something to consider.

Well here's the graph showing how much your MPen will grant you in extra damage: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=10 ... m+0+to+500 (link doesnt fully work, just copy-paste the whole thing)
If they start on 30 MR, you will be doing only 100/(100+30) damage to them, 76.9% of your full damage.
Reduce them to 21MR with your magic pen marks and youre doing 100/(100+21) damage, 82.6% of your full potential.
If you THEN rush the sorc shoes, youre going to be doing almost 100% of your full potential, as opposed to 100/(100+10), 90.9%. Well thats 9% extra damage from all your spells, its undeniably better than the mere 5.31AP you get from flat AP marks.
As for the spells, clarity is definitely one of the more viable ones, however here's my view:
You take clarity and this allows you to take flat AP seals, which grant 5.31AP in total, which gives you a little extra damage on all your abilities.(4 extra damage on Q and E)
You take mana regen seals and can therefore take ignite, which at level 6 will do 170 damage to them if you ulti at lvl 6. Remember also that your ulti isnt channelled, so you can ignite WHILE ulti'ing. Also ignite will do 410 damage to any enemy at lvl 18, thats pretty damn fine.
For me ignite is the clear winner here, far far more damage and it can be used while you ulti so you have a little more time to line up CoTV.
The other option ofc is flash + ghost, and id say this works equally well as malz is often first target in team fights, he has no escaping abilities, and if you want to utilize your massive farming potential by unintentionally pushing a lane, you need the extra escape mechanic.
And by the way with all of your AP runes + the dorans you get to 50AP. With my glyphs and quints + a dorans I have 31AP at level 1, and 58AP at lvl 18. I just feel the marks and seals give such a pathetic amount of AP its not worth it. :S

but so... if i wanted to stack purely for damage... i would go 100% magic pen runes? my brain is a bit fuzzy ATM from allergies, sorry if i'm misunderstanding. i have flat AP seals and quints already (unused); wouldn't be a huge investment to upgrade either way; if i can somehow do 9% more damage that's excellent

Full damage? Its gotta be full magic pen everything, simply because you need them to be at 0 magic resist before it becomes worth it to stack AP. However, MPen marks + sorc shoes gives you 30MPen, which is all you will need early game, so go flat AP quints glyphs seals, MPen reds and rush dems sorc shoes! But its a kinda silly build, 5.31AP from seals is just useless and AP/lvl glyphs really, truly are better, especially considering they will give you more damage at lvl 6 which is when you will be ulti'ing.

Here's an image of a 4v5 game me and soul won simply because we built so much better than the enemy. I'd just like to highlight the key parts of my counterbuild.
3/4 of their damage dealers were AP, so I grabbed the abyssal sceptre very early on.
We were 4v5, and therefore needed more survivability, which I got from my ROA + Rylais.
The key part here is the force of nature. On malzahar. Yeh. 3/4 of their damage dealers were AP, so by ignoring the void staff and going for the FoN, I reached a massive 176MR, negating 63.8% of all their damage.
And if youre looking at how to build a champion try to ignore the enemy team. Thats right, i hit 176MR and not a single one of them thought "hmm, lets see, maybe a void staff would be freakin awesome, yeah, ill get one of them to knock off 70.4 of his MR." They built and played terribly despite teemo having 1488 wins and nidalee having 1596. Me and soul were on 221 and 249 :D

has anyone tryed using shen not as a pure tank but as a ninja with high damage output and some HP items, so far im having tons of fun.

scifi my friend zyyn has been talking about that for a while, though i havent seen it actually work as of yet..
though if youre taking the hits for the team and can ki strike every attack, thats gotta be quite damaging. though ofc you'd need to build tanky to sustain the damage tha theyre putting on you.

europe here, so how mutch of you guys play on EU server, currently i know of Triton, Gota myself TMO,.......
I hadnt had mutch time to play but curious to know how mutch spring people play lol here.
About shen, well problem with shen is you need a attack speed boost and
1-2 pure damage items if you wanna be agressive, depends on your build but early on i like to take a area of effect item, i dont use infinity edge, im kinda mixing magical damage with armour piercing. The rest i go for pure HP ones.
Its a bit experimental but its fun.

They don't stack.
It feels really good to have 20 minute surrender NOT be your team for once. I completely shut down their carry (Vayne) as gragas......

bought a full set of MP runes; sadly 3x feeder teams in a row later, i still haven't had a good crack at it
like honestly who tower dives at level 2, fails, comes back immediately to tower dive and fail again... who pushes hard with a MIA shaco on the other team...
should i be reporting for "lack of skill" lol
