spectate as ally

Post by se5a »

Here's an idea:
allow spectators the option to spectate as a specific team. (or ally? I can never remmeber which is which) these spectators would then be given the option to 'take' if a normal player (on that team) has problems joining, or if one of the players has to leave, drops or otherwise gives up.

idealy you'd allow spectators to select a team half way through the game also, but you'd need to keep track of which players have already been spectating, playing etc so you don't get players full spec, leaving then joining as one side. or players on one side, quiting, coming back as spec on the other side and having the oportunity to take. etc.

even then though I guess you'd have to watch out for people with multiple accounts. maybe tracking IP&mac address would be enough?

CA had players that started as spec and could take control of dropped players if they wished. (was not used much)
And I think zeroK has ingame team balancing.
So what you mean is already possible..if you want it in a specific game bug that game makers to include it ;)
(or ally? I can never remmeber which is which)
ally.
allyteams = start in same startbox.
teams = have same unit color.

ca's backup feature broke frequently and generally had poor lobby support.

Which is why you'd be spectating as an ally - you can only see what that side can see.

Thing makes sense- sort of a counterstrike-spring. You join, you create a miniatureteam, you loose, you rejoin.

As it has been said, I added this feature to CA years ago. Licho even added support to springie to recognize teamspec/backup faction players. No one ever used it, no one cares. Everything has been tried already. It was removed.
