So what is it? Seems a lot like Star Control 2 after a quick glance, but not sure, they don't really give a straight fast explanation that I'd noticed.

You are a pirate venturing to center of the galaxy by any means necessary. This includes building up your own small fleet of ships ranging from tiny to huge carrier classes, upgrading your mothership, researching new tech, mining resources, abducting civilian / military crew from their escape pods after you blow up their ships and some other stuff.

Effects / graphics / sounds are excellent and fitting. The story is quite good too.

hmm, without having played it I nevertheless feel like that isn't enough of either of those things

I'm about 40 hours in and still don't have all, maybe 80%. Numbers subject to inaccuracy.

Game is quite challenging at times. You control only 1 ship directly and can switch between/give orders to your other ships. Full of kiting microing etc.

Yes.

Level 46. Found a few high level honeypot systems with uta vs civ fights often plus a mining base right next to the beacon, so money and goons.

The zombie systems are a bitch tho. If you have the goons, you can set max capacity and fight off zombies much easier. Next blockade is lvl 61. Gonna try to buy off the uta for it. I have a feeling that 100+ goons to bribe the guards is less expensive than the amount of ships I'll lose trying to fight my way through.

Fucking game is addictive as hell.

Level 70!

The best thing when you're around level 30/40 is to bribe guards to a very high level system (like level 60). Then go to that system and go to the conflict missions, and loot everything.

yep, that's exactly what I'm doing. I wish the drops included weapon tech as well. That would be cool.

with hangars, it seems like it would be better if a larger hanger could support multiple small ships (as an alternative to one large one). Unless I'm missing somthing, it pretty much came down to maxing out on the largest combat designs you have hangars for
