Re: What keeps causing this?
possibly the bug I fixed in master
Gundam uses some specific footprints causing the pathestimator to do an endless loop. Possibly this causes an infinite memalloc.

Re: What keeps causing this?
That is interesting, what footprints and how does that even happen?

Re: What keeps causing this?
Could you be more specific JK? I am rather interested in this as well.

1) the piece of infinitely-looping code is not in 0.82.7, and does not allocate any memoryinfolog wrote:Spring 0.82.7.1 (0.82.7.1)
2) with Gundam's footprints that loop would be entered on any map, not just "large" ones
The actual cause is again probably just the excessive memory usage when loading 7z archives (http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=25206 et all).
Within a certain range of master builds, any non-square footprint with one dimension <= 2 (as specified in movedefs.lua) and the other > 2 would result in some loop increment variable being 0 and lock up the path estimator.smoth wrote:That is interesting, what footprints and how does that even happen?
Re: What keeps causing this?
that particular map was released as a sdz because of said bug.Kloot wrote:The actual cause is again probably just the excessive memory usage when loading 7z archives (http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=25206 et all).
So what would be causing him to have an unwritable pathing dir for specific maps. This is what I keep seeing from random people.
Re: What keeps causing this?
"Error opening" does not necessarily equal "unwritable", in this context it just means the PE cache-file for that map does not exist (because Spring crashes before reaching the point at which it would be written) and hence cannot be opened for reading.
Re: What keeps causing this?
ah ok, so any idea why this would happen on an sdz for a large map? It does not happen to everyone.
