To those of you who care about him. His baby girl was born today. For those of you who are going to be douches, just stay out of the thread.

Congrats... it doesn't REALLY get hard until number 2... one hint is that for the first couple months you can get away with staying up all night playing video-games if you bring the bassinet in by you so you can rock it while you're playing...

another pro-tip... invest in a "bouncy seat"...

Bassinet? I remember playing several rounds of Kernel Panic with little Julian sleeping in my lap.

But yeah, once they're 2 or 3 and not really napping anymore, you're only getting any "me" time after they go to bed. And no ride-in or sit-in or whatever toy is guaranteed. One of my kids *hated* the exersaucer, the other one *hated* the swing.

Yeah, the lap works really well but the bassinet means they don't wake up when you go to bed.

Yeah... we had to get a different style of bouncy seat for the second kid too (daughter lovers the lie-down style bouncy, son needed the stand-up-excesaucer style... both were pretty good with the swing however.)

We recently discovered that the blackout blinds are the most amazing inventions ever... (we got an Ikea one)... the kids' are much better at sleeping in when they aren't awakened by the sun.
