Sexy. However, I can't see me playing it for more than a week or two, same deal as Crysis really. When graphics like this become standard there might be some ones that have good gameplay as well as graphics. Still, very impressive.

How does it not look like good gameplay? Jumpjet-oriented custom mech gameplay is always hella fun.Jazcash wrote:Sexy. Depends how cranky the movement is, personally, I didn't think the gameplay looked that good but meh, just my opinion.Pxtl wrote: How does it not look like good gameplay? Jumpjet-oriented custom mech gameplay is always hella fun.

The art work reminds me of neo tokyo and those Japanese mech games. The game play is very tribes/ what mechwarrior wished it was.
Those must be nice gaming rigs to play something that pretty, or I am just used to old tech
Anyways I notice that as games improve in visuals with better technology that can run it, many games invest too much on the visual sector and lack good game play or story or just are not compelling other than OMG ridiculous awesome graphics. Same thing with movies: huge investments in special effects and have a 4 year old write the story.
But this could be very promising. I'll keep my on it, but I don't think y current computers will run it nicely.

The name you're looking for is Armored Core.what mechwarrior wished it was
That's what it looked like to me - Armored Core meets FPS (AC had a heavy focus on auto-aim and homing weapons that meant much longer engagement ranges).

The last second of the demo showed an in cockpit scene which resembles mechwarrior. But I hope it allows for 3rd person views aswell.

AC had a brief stint with first person that, in my opinion, failed.
Yes it reminded me of AC a lot as well. Sort of like AC got plopped into the environments of Killzone. *shudders*
It looks pretty awesome. If it does pull off a fun and "immersive" cockpit FPS, I'll be very excited to play it. It's something I've wanted for a while.

idk what the game would be like, but one would be hard pressed to find an independent title with as polished looking and detailed graphics as this

My initial reaction seeing the video is "that map is gonna play like crap, too much crap everywhere". But ya, like smoth said, I haven't played it yet so I really couldn't state that with any authority. Especially since the mechs can jump and fly that type of a map may be more sensible.Pxtl wrote:How does it not look like good gameplay? I have to say I am really excited with the way indie game development is picking up.
Another indie game that caught my interest a while back was Interstellar Marines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eotySkt_Fzw&hd=1 (Try to ignore the hype-y bits)
It obviously bears some resemblance to CoD, but they are promising some hard science fiction so that bit definitely has my interest.

The environment and music actually remind me a lot of UT2004 for some reason. Or at least one or two maps in UT2004 I used to play.
As for the graphics, I think you would really need to wait and see. Not everything that looks nice sucks as much power (for its time) as Crysis, and being an indie game they probably aren't under a lot of pressure to make it half-assed to meet deadlines.

The gameplay video shows it going well. Even the original video that showed a less conventional map would still work well with jumpjet games. High vertical columns mean there's still cover available when you're high off the ground, and limited standing platforms mean you have to carefully pick where you're going to land and recharge your jets. Armored Core had some fantastic maps that created incredible tension by limiting the amount of safe landing areas.SwiftSpear wrote:My initial reaction seeing the video is "that map is gonna play like crap, too much crap everywhere". The title of the game isn't spelled a single time in this thread. Phail!
