Re: MP3 Players
Classic Ipod's are still pretty much superior to most MP3 players.
And Ipod touches as much as its nice to hate Apple still shit on everything on the market. MP3 player with decent apps and its not even that expensive.
Though using Itunes can be a bit bleh.
I would never buy an apple computer or laptop as they are over priced for what you get and still somewhat limited. But I would be hard pressed to buy anything other than an Ipod when it comes an mp3 player.

Put the rockbox firmware on it1v0ry_k1ng wrote:it crashes frequently and it likes to randomly refresh media when I turn it on- which takes 5 minutes- all the time.

Im sure doesnt need 5 min to turn on but I mostly have flac albums so my database probably isnt huge.
In the fuze you can put a 16gb microsd but I only have an 8gb one right now.Neddie wrote:I use Sansa products these days. The Sansa Fuze is alright, if you're willing to pair a MicroSD card with a Sansa Clip+ you'll meet your 16 GB "need".
Re: MP3 Players
Actually I think it's just the Fuze+ and the Clip+ now? But you can still find the View, Fuze and Clip for sale.Neddie wrote:The Sansa Fuze isn't really representative of the line. They currently have the Fuze, the View and the Clip+.

fuze+ is supposed to be bad and the normal fuze is discontinued.

Re: MP3 Players
the sansa fuze is a massive abortion
Re: MP3 Players
Decided to splash my extra cash and go for a Cowon J3.
Was anythingbutipod's player of the year 2010 so I guess it has to be reasonable enough.

You can get them for next to nothing refurbished, and refurbished goods are usually quite good.Machete234 wrote:fuze+ is supposed to be bad and the normal fuze is discontinued.
Heard good things.FLOZi wrote:Decided to splash my extra cash and go for a Cowon J3.

I got mine for I think 25Ôé¼ with shipping refurbished and it seems the battery is good.Neddie wrote:You can get them for next to nothing refurbished, and refurbished goods are usually quite good.Machete234 wrote:fuze+ is supposed to be bad and the normal fuze is discontinued.
When I sent my player in they repaired it in two days so the service at cowon is very good. (This is maybe a record, the other time I sent it in it took longer)FLOZi wrote:Decided to splash my extra cash and go for a Cowon J3.![]()
Brother broke his display on a bigger touchscreen (s9 or so) they repaired that for 70Ôé¼.
Re: MP3 Players
Buy an old 5(.5?)G ipod (the first line of video ones, iirc), and put rockbox on it.
30-60GB, good hardware, cheap by now, and you can use whatever software you want without being clamped down by shitty software.

Re: MP3 Players
i've got a fuze+, so no rockbox yet but im hoping they'll develop it soon
also this isn't the first mp3 player that uses micro SD cards ive had so i've already got a ton of organized playlists etc
for me, anything cheap is good. i listen to my music at work, so there ends up being all sorts of crap caked on it anyways from painting or other debris;
i wouldn't care if it got run over by a truck because i paid about $60 cdn for it, but i have a feeling i'd be a lot more upset if i let a more expensive ipod die in the same manner
also a small quibble about ipods; my friends went off warranty after years of use (i think one of those first gen bricklike LCD ones) and developped a wiggly headphone slot; there was simply not enough room inside the casing to shore it up, wheras inside in fuze+ im sure if i needed to repair in terms of phonewiggle i could put a big lump of hot glue over top of my soldering
also apple is mega aids etc
the best mp3 player i ever saw was a sony that my friend bought in hong kong 5 years ago, about 1/2 the size of a cig pack with a huge storage like 50 gig. i've never seen a sony player on sale here with a size of more than 16.

Re: MP3 Players
Sandisk Sansa Clip if you wanna go cheap, unless something's changed recently they're a favorite of people who want a simple, low-cost MP3 player with excellent sound quality. Don't know what type of connector it takes.
Cowon S9 if you have a bit more money. I can attest that the S9 has the cleanest sound output of any device I've used, with comprehensive filter options if you need to compensate for less than ideal speakers or headset. Has a proprietary connector, unfortunately.

Re: MP3 Players
The Sansa Clip uses Mini-USB and a standard stereo jack, but most sellers will provide both the USB cable and basic earbuds.
